New problem after I tinted my windows

So after getting my windows tinted a couple of days ago, my driver side window won't retract when I open the door. I searched and tried the window reset method 3 times and it doesn't fix it. Called the tint place and the guy that picked up told me to just bring it in but I live kinda far.
Anyone have an idea what could be happening?
Thx in advance

The tint place probably unplugged the automatic window roll down plug that should be behind your door in the pillar (behind your seat). I remember my friend had this done as well on his G and I had to plug it back in for him after the tints were safe to roll down again.

I'm sorry I can't be more detailed on where the plug is since I've never done it on my Z.

^^ but my automatic windows work just fine. Weird problem...

I don't think it has anything to do with the tint.
try resetting the windows again.

i believe its a seperate function, the window rolls a little down and up when you open/close the door. that happens regardless of the auto roll down function being on or off. I dont know if this is the solution, but same exact problem happened to my friends G35 and that was how i fixed it.

When I got my windows tinted the guy unbolted the door switch, the little push button that is pushed in when the door is closed. When you open the door the button pops out and this activates the interior light and your auto window roll down. My advise is to check this button. If it's loose it won't function properly and your window won't roll down when you open the door. Open the drivers side door, look at the middle of the door frame,'right hand side. Just behind the u shaped clamp that holds the door you'll see a rubber button, that's the one.

Try this first. This function is normally disabled by an auto installed so that the window is fully up when the door is open. He may have left it disabled.

Then do the window reset again. Just because they go up and down fine doesn't mean the reset won't fix your problem.

Good luck!

I'm sure it's that. When installing the tints, most shops don't want the window rolled down a 1/4 inch.

Had the same issue, this was the solution, just had to tighten the screw back down.

just do the window relearn procedure.. search for how to do it. problem will be solved..

i think you just fully open and close your windows twice while holding the button down the whole time plus 2 seconds or so...

Thx man! you were right. I confirmed it was that little rubber push button because when my driver door is open the interior lights dont light up.
It still sucks that i have to drive where i got my tints done cuz i dont know how to fix it... :shakes head:

Glad I could help. Shouldn't be to hard to fix yourself. First check if it's screwed in tight, it's just a Phillips head screw holding the button to the door frame. If it is tight, unscrew it again, take it out and see if the plug in the back is plugged in correctly. It's just a simple switch, can't be to much more wrong with it then those two things. If that doesn't solve it. take the button from the passenger side and put it in the drivers side. If that works you know the button is caput...

Juruki 08-20-2010 02:47 PM

^^ but all i see is the rubber thing. Do i need to pull it out in order to see the screw?
EDIT: I went outside to my car and noticed the screw was missing...

JB1 08-20-2010 02:57 PM

well, that explains it, no screw = no contact = button won't work.

Juruki 08-20-2010 02:59 PM

^^ and I called a minute ago and they told me they were gonna find a screw for me to bring it in. I hope after making a long drive there they will find the right size.
Thx a lot JB1! Now that i know whats wrong with the car i feel at ease...
