Does the water collect or drain here?

This is AK370Z's picture but it appears to me that there is no way for water to leave this area inside the gas door? So does it collect or does it drain out?

Umm....it drains out no problem.

Yeah, it drains just fine. What's hard to see from the pic is that the bottom part isn't flat. It's on a slant so that any water in there drains right out.

Suppose that should have been included with the question it appears flat by the picture but in all actuality it has a slant . Good to know..

It's still a mystery to me as to why they made the opening so big. It does allow the fuel nozzle head assembly to rest on an unexposed part of the body. However, a smaller hole with a flap would accomplish the same thing.

Is it significantly bigger than it was on the 350?

Um...yep, I'd say it's a tad bit larger on the 370! :D
Yeah I have no idea why it's so large or what purpose it serves being so big.

Here's a video that'll show your how the water drains:

I think it's so big so that gas guns don't rest on the body of the car. Because of the new wheel arch, i think the older size would have caused "problems" for the paranoid.

very scientific AK!

Thanks for the demonstration.
