From a Nismo to an Avalanche
When I purchased my 2009 370z Nismo last year, I had just ended a 7 year relationship with a woman and decided to reward myself handsomely. Even though we worked on our relationship and got back together, I kept the Z and loved every minute of it.
I got married a couple weeks ago (we're 1000% better off than this time last year) and just couldn't see keeping the Z forever, which was my original plan. If we had 1 or 2 kids, we might be able to make it work since she has an SUV, but I wanted a little more flexibility in that. So I found a great deal on a 2010 Chevrolet Avalanche and traded-in the Nismo. I lost my *** on the trade-in, but it evened out by getting 10k off of sticker on an Avalanche LT. This forum is great, and I still plan on lurking. Thanks for all the great info you all shared, as well as the laughs. http://www.the370z.com/members/matt-...16991-1024.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/matt-...valanche-1.jpg P.S. A couple of small comparisons, for those interested: - Power, handling, speed, sound..... the Z is unmatched compared to this truck. Even gas mileage was great in the Z compared to the Avalanche! - Comfort, luxury, roominess, storage all make the Avalanche superior for my situation going forward. - The Bose system in the Avalanche is actually quite good. I pulled all my stereo stuff out of the Z in anticipation of switching it over, but I won't be doing that now. I'll probably add a sub or two with an amp, and that's it. - Driving the Avalanche on the highway made my Z feel like I was on a roller coaster. I didn't think a truck would be more smooth than a sports car. |
Hope you enjoy the new truck!
Good luck! |
Good lord that is a big change, but sometimes you have to make some sacrifices! I agree with you that the Z is one of the less practical cars out there but as long as you are happy with the Avalanche, that is all that matters.

I've always wanted an avalanche or caddy EXT, but never had a use for the size, towing and cargo space. It really is a beautiful truck. I'm loving it, but definitely missing the Z too.

Wow.. Hope u like ur new ride dude.. Glad it all worked out too

I want to stay single. LOL

Congrats on making a positive life decision!
That said, someone needs to make a thread recounting all the people who had to sell their Nismo's at their wife's behest. Though I don't know what's made more owner's part ways with their Nismo: a wife or the VDC button. |

I think the Avalanche is sick anyways

Man you are doing what you got to do (prioritizing), are you going to put some rims or any other mods on it?

I had a bunch of trucks while I was a single guy. Great for towing, hunting, carrying bikes, golf clubs etc... Last one was an 06 z71 silverado crew. great trucks. once I got married and now have two cars including a tahoe, I downsized to an 09 Z. to each his own. If I had 40K laying around I'd buy another chevy crew cab as a daily driver....
but love my z! |
Ouch...I am looking at the Nismo pic and the Avalance pic. Such major sacrifices we make in the name of love.
I guess if a "she" was involved and I was younger, I would probably dump my 370Z for a minivan once cupid shot several arrows in my a*s. Your eyes are glazed over with looooooove. You will eventually find your sanity, and then you will be back. I overcame my blindness...truck is gone and 370Z is in the garage. Still married too! My grandpa once said "You gotta watch those women. They will hang on you like a Sunday suit. The right one comes along, and she will make a hounddog quit his trail, a tadpole swallow a whale, and a preacher lay his bible down." |
Now, just to clear it up... My wife is pissed I got rid of the Z! She loved it, and doesn't really think I needed to make the trade. I just knew once the Z was paid off, there was gonna be no way I'd get rid of it. And if I kept it and we still needed another vehicle, that'd be a lot of money put aside for just cars.
