weight difference between models....
Anyone know the weight difference between base, sport, and touring with each transmission ? I heard a sport/touring with 7 AT was well over 3500 lb. :shakes head:

ya it is heavey

Check this out: "All that shrinkage helps this Z shed a few pounds. A base-model 370Z with a manual transmission weighs in at 3,232 pounds. That's 88 pounds less than a base-model 2008 Nissan 350Z with a manual transmission. Even the heaviest 370Z still weighs just 3,314 pounds."

AT adds 37 lbs, Touring pkg adds 46 lbs. Not sure about the Sports Package but I've heard around another 45 to 50 lbs.

The added weight isn't that bad. Just don't eat at McDonalds and wear Puma shoes. That should be enough to offset the weight.
|
Puma shoes FTW.

From nissanusa.com:
Curb Weights (lbs) 370Z™ TOURING Manual transmission 3,232 3,278 Automatic transmission 3,269 3,314 I have not seen sport. Wheels are lighter and the other parts would add weight. Do not know the net. |
^^ that's probably without any fluids in the car
|
Fluids are overrated....

Especially oil! Teflon coating FTW!!!

Base = 1480 kg (3263 lb) Base + Sport = 1500 kg (3307 lb) Touring = 1510 kg (3329 lb) Touring + Sport = 1520 kg (3351 lb) These numbers can also be found on Nissan's Japan website. But the numbers don't add up either. Sport is 44 lbs heavier than Base. But the Touring is 66 lbs heavier than Base (it's 46 lbs according to Nissan USA). But again the Touring + Sport is only 22 lbs heavier than the Touring? So either the Sport is somewhere between 22-44 lbs and/or the Touring is 46-66 lbs heavier than the Base. But what really makes me believe the NissanUSA numbers are a lie are the car mag reports. Road & Track, MotorTrend, Car and Driver, Automoible Mag have all reported curb weights of 3350-3380 lbs. The test car in every case has been a Base + Sport 6spd MT. So if you take the worse case figures for a fully loaded car: 3380 lbs (Base + Sport), add 66 lbs for the Touring, another 37 lbs for the AT, and 5 lbs (a guess??) for Nav... ...and you have a grand total of 3488 lbs. That's heavy! I think Nissan's claim that the new 370z is lighter than the 350z is BS. It perhaps applies to the Base model only. |
Anyone actually took their Z to a scale and weighed it? That's one of the first things I would do
|
AK370Z posted these pictures before, which shows a weight of 1499 kg for the JDM Z Base + Sport with a full tank of gas. This confirms the Nissan Japan data I have of 1500 kg or about 3307 lbs (Base + Sport).
But because of US federal crash regulations, it's common for US cars to weigh more than the same model in Japan. According to the US car mags, it seems the US car is at least 50 lbs heavier. I too would like to see some US owners weigh their cars, especially in Touring trim, since the car mag tests have all been Base + Sport. http://www.the370z.com/images/japan%...com_weigh1.jpg http://www.the370z.com/images/japan%..._weigh%202.jpg |
