Who changes your oil?
Hey guys my friend is telling me I should change my own oil because all bets are off when you use jiffy lube by me. Do you guys bring your cars back to the dealership for the change or you do it yourself or just bring it to the local spot?
|
My dad's shop. Or I do it in my garage. Why don't you take use of the Nissan's deals?
Don't they give free detailing and oil changes since you just purchased ur z?! |
I do. I don't trust shops to do it right. Half of them don't change the filters! Most of them don't know what oil to use.
|
I do on our scissor lift. Helps to work in a shop.
|
I do it In my shop.
|
I change my own oil on all cars in my family. Years ago, I used an express oil change. Checking after they changes my oil, I noticed they over-filled it. I trust my own work. A set of ramps in my drive way and an ample supply of filters and synthetic oil in my garage are all that I need. I recycle used oil to a nearby Autozone.
|
I do.
Then I KNOW it's a bodge job, but at least I clean up after me. |
I change mine street-side atop ramps fashioned out of nailed together 2x4's situated next to a street drain that leads directly to the ocean so I can hide the evidence.
(Not really, I do it myself, in my garage, and take the used oil to a California Certified Oil Recycling Center.) |

"Crash" changes my oil.

Same here, i'll take care of it. I think as long as you keep all your receipts it shouldn't screw up the warranty.

I posted this in a similar thread, but never trust those places:
You will be lucky if they dont give you the cheapest oil they have and charge you full price. And charge you for an oil filter they never changed. If you chose to go to those places, I recommend you watch that vid first, and if you still want to do it, make sure you make them let you watch everything they do. |
Nice post Frost ... definitely change your own oil/filter. It's the ONLY way you know what you're getting and it's done right. |
Change my own...
And Jiffy Lube should never ever be mentioned from this day forward. ;) |
Also change my own oil. I've never thought of having a quickie-lube type place do it.
I did let a Toyota dealership change the oil on my wife's new truck back in 2003. They left the old filter gasket stuck to the engine when they put the new filter on, and on my way home the stacked filter gaskets blew out and the engine starved for oil. They ended up putting in a new engine after they figured out they couldn't B.S. me into driving off the lot with a loud rod knock. So I think I'll stick with changing the oil myself. <script src="http://shots.snap.com//client/inject.js?site_name=0" type="text/javascript"></script><script src="http://shots.snap.com//client/inject.js?site_name=0" type="text/javascript"></script> |
I change my own oil. Not just the engine oil, but the gear and diff oil as well.
