Ya I used to build WWII Aircraft and armor, so I'm pretty familiar weathering them. Crush up pastels and 'paint' the dust onto the model, spinkle some like mineral spirts on there get some good looking runs and what not. Some came out halfway decent, others came out like crap. But the crappy ones I could always destroy and make a blown up tank or crashed plane.

Destroying models is fun. For cars, just heat up some of the panels you want to damage and bend them to shape...

Used to do it a lot with the NASCAR kits.

I used to build Star Trek models. I have an original Enterprise, A, D, Voyager, 3 adversary set and runabout that are completed. I also have a B, E and DS9 that are either unfinished or damaged. I did some battle damage on my Enterprise A (Star Trek VI-esque). I agree, adding weathering and damage is fun. My brothers and I primarily built aircraft. I even had a 1:48 Airwolf.

Building a Tamiya 370Z right now. It's the first one I've ever done and probably be the last one I'll ever do. I love assemblying it but I hate painting it. I'm too impatient. Doing mine all white. White brakes, white seats, white mats, and then gonna put a big red dot with the number 34 on the door panel.

Did you use a regular brush or an Airbrush? I used to make model stuff about 6 or 7 years ago

Actually, the colors they list for body colors are all aerosol paint cans. I primed, wetsanded, then painted, although there are definitely a few areas that didn't come out perfect.

I used to be pretty big into scale model building. I still have all of my supplies and a few unfinished kits in my basement.

In the last year or so of my time in the hobby I really got into scratch building to enhance realism. Anything from wiring to genuine leather upholstery (hard as **** to do on a 1/24 scale!).

I actually have been thinking about getting back into it because it's pretty calming when you've got a couple hours of free time.

The thing I don't like about that model kit you did is it's a curbside kit... I hate those ones! My favorite part of model building is assembling the chassis and engine!!!

I can't stand not having an engine either. It would be so much better to be able to open the hood and check out that stable liking under it!
