Painting Calipers
Last week I was bored so I decided to paint my engine cover. I really like the way the red contrasts with the blue.
Today I saw some pics of a 40th Z and I like the way that the red calipers look on that car. That got me thinking about painting mine. I am trying to keep my appearance mods subtle. The LAST thing I want is for the car to look "riced". Has anyone tried the brake caliper paint kits? If so, which ones are the best? I am also thinking about waiting until I put the car away for the winter and removing them to send out for powder coating. Will it look bad to do either of these options? PS. I wasn't sure if this thread should be in the brake, exterior or the DIY section.

for brake calipers, powdercoat, don't paint. The finish is 10x more durable. If you paint, you will likely be re-painting about once a year to keep the finish bearable.
contact Mike on the forums for powdercoating he did mine:

That looks great.
Any issues with removing all four calipers at the same time and leaving the lines open for a few days or weeks? What was the turn time for yours?

Sweet. Maybe this won't be a winter project.
Thanks, I'll look into it.

and be careful who you get to powdercoat your brakes, it's not an easy task compared to say wheels. You need to disassemble the caliper completely, by removing all pistons, then know how to seal it back up after powdercoating is complete. If you want to do it right...

I guess that depends on your definition of subtle is.
And I guess that red and blue aren't really contrasting colors either.
