Is it true that the Z is the only car that nissan still assembles complety in Japan and then ships to the US?

High volume cars like the altima and sentra are made in tenn or Mexico. Low volume cars like the z and gtr are made in japan.

And thank god almighty they havent decided to assemble other than japan! Coming from a sentra, the build quality for the Z is truly day and night compared to the stuff pumped out of mexico

From a report that I read Nissan is planning to build more plants in the US for the assembly of their cars including the Z due to the economy and slow sales.

not sure why (i guess i know) but every japanese brand car i bought that was either assembled in USA or Canada had to be sent back for warranty repairs...
the worst was a 06 CivicEX i bought new as my dd which had to go in for a full week of warranty repair within 1K miles...and they gave me a rental Cobalt to ensure me that my Civic was a good purchase. man the cobalt sucked. good psychology they used. |

Max has been made in TN since 04 model yr and its build quality went down with the 6th gen Maxima big time. The 09+ Max is still built there but with more stringent quality control it is back on par with 03 and prior yrs Max build quality.

I have come to the opinion that it doesn't matter where something was made, what matters most is the solidity of the design.
For example, the 350Z I found to be a rattle-can when I rode in a friend's. The 370Z, I found to have a billet-solid feel. I doubt the work-ethic in Japan has changed that much. More likely, the 370Z is a stiffer, more mature car. The 2004 vs. 2005 mustang is another example. The 2004 rattled and felt like laffy-taffy. The 2005 felt a LOT! more solid. I doubt that the factory workers all had a change of heart in a few months. Design>country of origin. Last edited by ImportConvert; 01-20-2011 at 05:39 AM. |

Here are the facts:
All Infiniti's are made in Japan (as of now). The QX56 used to be made in Mississippi until last year. Made in Japan are: GTR 370Z (Tochigi) Rogue Murano Cube Made in Mexico: Versa Sentra Made in the good 'ol US of A: Altima Maxima Pathfinder Xterra Frontier Titan I have owned numerous Infinti's and Nissan's over the years and have had good luck with all of them. The worst vehicle I owned was a 2004 G35 (made in Japan) and it wasn't that bad of a vehicle.... just not up to the quality I had come to expect from Nissan over time.
