Just a general question
Is it true that the Z is the only car that nissan still assembles
complety in Japan and then ships to the US? |
They make the fx g ex m and maybe The maxima and murano in japan.
|
Yah, I think the infiniti's are made in Japan?
|

From a report that I read Nissan is planning to build more plants in the US for the assembly of their cars including the Z due to the economy and slow sales.

not sure why (i guess i know) but every japanese brand car i bought that was either assembled in USA or Canada had to be sent back for warranty repairs...
the worst was a 06 CivicEX i bought new as my dd which had to go in for a full week of warranty repair within 1K miles...and they gave me a rental Cobalt to ensure me that my Civic was a good purchase. :D man the cobalt sucked. good psychology they used. |

I have come to the opinion that it doesn't matter where something was made, what matters most is the solidity of the design.
For example, the 350Z I found to be a rattle-can when I rode in a friend's. The 370Z, I found to have a billet-solid feel. I doubt the work-ethic in Japan has changed that much. More likely, the 370Z is a stiffer, more mature car. The 2004 vs. 2005 mustang is another example. The 2004 rattled and felt like laffy-taffy. The 2005 felt a LOT! more solid. I doubt that the factory workers all had a change of heart in a few months. Design>country of origin. |
I found something in my paper work about my car that said final assembly in Tennessee.
|
Here are the facts:
All Infiniti's are made in Japan (as of now). The QX56 used to be made in Mississippi until last year. Made in Japan are: GTR 370Z (Tochigi) Rogue Murano Cube Made in Mexico: Versa Sentra Made in the good 'ol US of A: Altima Maxima Pathfinder Xterra Frontier Titan I have owned numerous Infinti's and Nissan's over the years and have had good luck with all of them. The worst vehicle I owned was a 2004 G35 (made in Japan) and it wasn't that bad of a vehicle.... just not up to the quality I had come to expect from Nissan over time. |
G20 made in taiwan.
|
i kinda like the idea its made in japan. don't get me wrong im all for made in the usa..... they can make it nebraska for all i care as long as the quailty is there..............

Cannot believe all the bad information on this post. I am glad that you got it right. Sometimes you have to go searching for yourself :) From Nissan's website ..... Nissan has three production plants in the United States - in Smyrna and Decherd, Tennessee, and Canton, Mississippi. Production at Nissan's Smyrna Plant began in June 1983. The vehicle assembly plant has an annual production capacity of 550,000 vehicles and represents a capital investment of $2.5 billion. The plant produces the Nissan Altima, Nissan Maxima, Nissan Xterra, Nissan Frontier and Nissan Pathfinder. The vehicle assembly plant in Canton, Mississippi, began producing vehicles in May 2003. The $1.4 billion plant now produces the Nissan Altima, Nissan Quest, Nissan Armada, Nissan Titan and Infiniti QX56. The plant has an annual production capacity of 400,000 vehicles. Nissan's powertrain assembly plant in Decherd, Tennessee, began production in May 1997. Today the plant manufactures all the engines for the complete lineup of Nissan and Infiniti vehicles produced in the U.S. The plant also forges crankshafts, and cylinder block casting operations will begin in the spring of 2008. . |

I think the vin number tells the tale. Vin's that start with a J = Japan, 1 = U.S., 2 = Canada. Don't know about Mexico.
