Base v. Base with sport
I know a few people here have the base model without sport, besides what I do not get which I believe is: rear spoiler, front chin, larger brakes, 19" wheels, VLSD. What else does it lack? What features would I lose by not getting the sport from Nissan and going aftermarket for all of these parts?
I am looking at getting the auto so the rev matching is not a concern to me. Thanks. |

Larger Brakes: Having larger brakes are always a +. This is usually the first mod for those who tracks (Road Course) their car regularly. It also provides you extra stopping power even on the public roads. VLSD: With a LSD you can put the power to the ground more evenly and effectively. My 350Z didn't have LSD. Every single day I wished why I didn't purchase the enthusiast model. Forged Light weight wheels: You've only mentioned that it's 19" wheels but these are forged lightweight wheel from Rays Engineering. I personally believe they look so much better than the base rims and few believe it's probably the best rims EVER offered on a Z car. Also having less weight, your car will turn and accelerate better. Rear Spoiler: I personally like the rear spoiler that comes with the sports package and I also think it completes the car. Do you really want to go through the hassle of making holes in your trunk on your $32K car? Have the Nissan do it for you. You can always go aftermarket for any of these parts but you have to remember the shop you take your car to must know what they are doing. An improperly installed LSD can ruin performance of your car and do damage to your gearing and such. For only $2602, I think it's an amazing deal and NO 370Z enthusiast should buy the car without it. |
People always seem to overlook or forget about the SynchroRev match. That's one of the key features of the Sport Package.
Being the first of its kind, maybe what you don't know, you won't miss or need. But after test driving with the SynchroRev match, I can say it's fun fun fun! It's a must have for me now! Well, but if you're getting the slush box, then I guess it's moot. All the other goodies in the Sport Package are things I'd want too. So all in all it's a great package IMHO. |
those beautiful Forged Light weight wheels ALONE! cost $950 EACH!!!
sh*t i was so surprised they cost that much |
OEM wheels are always overpriced.
But I'll pay the sport option price even if it just includes LSD. |
I don't think they drilled holes for the rear spoiler. I think it is all double sided tape. Can someone clarify?

And now, you started a new thread of base vs base w/o sport package. I am getting an impression that performance is not one of your top priority. Do you want to get Nissan 370z just because of its looks?? Why do you want to get Nissan 370z? if you dont really care about the performance, you really shoundn't get Nissan 370z because your not getting the full potential of this car by getting auto and No-sports package. Why would you pay +30,000 for something that your not getting full potential of? I rather suggest you spend your money wisely by getting other car, such as Infinity G37, BMW 135, or whatever. Then you can get a full value of your money because they are good automatic cars. |

The G37 is to big, the 135 is a nice car, not a sports car. Edit: Also, I spend usually months, if not over a year, before I jump on a purchase like this. I like to make sure I am getting the best deal, and all the features I want with nothing extra. |

I think the sports package should be a no-brainer for most people buying the car, not only do you get all the goodies for a relatively cheap price, but I would imagine there will be quite a big difference when it comes to re-sale value. |

My commute is an hour also, and my Z is my daily car. Driving my manual is so natural to me... I see your point, I guess for auto base without sport package, the only thing you can't really replace by reasonable price and labor work is LSD. Everything else can be replaced with aftermarket. But then again, thats same for every other cars, ex. civic, sentra, tiburons....you can buy auto and mod them out and make them fast... by the way, you need to have LSD because of all that power..... My point is that this particular Nissan 370z is different from other cars. Nissan built it with worlds first Syncro Rev match transmission. Nissan spent 5 years of research and develpment for this feature, and its so amazing... Getting an auto, not matter how much you make it fast by modding it, it will never be same with Manual Synro Rev. I would be sad and dismayed if people asks me, " Yo, thats an awesome car man, Hows the new Z with Synro Rev Match??" You reply, "Yea man, its nice car, But is its..................Auto.........."...... <------- this has been my opinion, so no offense inteded :) |
I have test driven the Z, in auto, and compared to others I feel it is better. Now it is hard to really judge a car in a test drive when they will not let you go all out in it, and even compare model A to B. That is true, buying the auto with how much work they put into the manual rev match might be a downfall, but it is not always about how fast I can go from point A to B.
The manual v. auto and this thread have been my research threads to find exact details on this car which I am still uncertain on. Basically looking at this car as an investment and I do not want to invest money into something that will lose me money if I just end up replacing it. Then again, I get the sports package, and sell what I do not want... |
