Edit: Also, I spend usually months, if not over a year, before I jump on a purchase like this. I like to make sure I am getting the best deal, and all the features I want with nothing extra.

You will not be able to make up the difference in aftermarket for anywhere near $3k.
I think the sports package should be a no-brainer for most people buying the car, not only do you get all the goodies for a relatively cheap price, but I would imagine there will be quite a big difference when it comes to re-sale value.
