19, damn, 22 here and still picking a major for the 12th time...
About convincing your father, I would do research and come to him with facts about the care. How well it does against other cars, safety standards, pricing, awards, and deals. Show the interest in the car and he might take a look at it with you and throw it in the choices he is looking at for you.

Lucky I'm 21 and I only finished high school. NO College even though I want to.

i would have an associates right now but i dabbled in business for a year before switching to mechanical engineering. a 370z is a nice car. my father is saying the same thing to me.

good grades= new wheels.

however im looking for something that costs about a 3rd of the 370z right now. i'll give you guys a few hints. turbo inline 6, awd, nissan. and since i have family in canada theres a loophole about driving it here muahaha....

my father has an SC430 right now that we put up for sale in order to get a Grey 370z Sport touring!!

So, your a senior right now?
I don't think you should get a 370z...
It's not going to be convenient for you especially since your going to college.
Will this be your first manual and rwd?
Make sure you know what your in for!
And remember it's coming out of your dad's pocket, not yours.

nogoodname 02-26-2009 09:55 AM

Going off topic here, but I think the young man's had all the help he needs...

If you're 19 and a Graphic Designer, why the hell don't you have a really nice avatar and sig pic? - Call yourself a designer? pahhh!

At 21, my parents bought me a 350Z as a gift. However, they didn't pay for the whole car. Once I graduated and found a full time job I paid the last two years for the car. I even took care of insurance, maintenance, etc.

At 27, I'm looking forward to the 370Z. This time I'm taking care of it myself especially after selling the 350Z. Mom's car broke down last year, so I took care of getting her a new Accord. That way my parents can focus on other things, and then my dad can later get her something "nicer." The Accord will probably end up being my daily driver. Otherwise, they can keep the Accord, and I can get a cheap daily driver.

If your dad can budget the 370Z as a new car for you, congrats! You can also take advantage of building credit as well.

I've mentioned this before, regarding this type topic. As the OP's dad is paying for it etc.. Dad should be on here as well.

Your a great son! :tiphat:
Most kids don't give a **** about their parents.
Our parents shouldn't be using money on us anymore.
If anything we should be spoiling them.
It's their turn to relax and enjoy life!
