contemplating hurting myself...

I just put a small scratch on the rear left wheel of the car getting out of my work car park... the car only lasted 9 months before a wheel scratch... my last car lasted 3 years... i hate myself right now... I give permission for someone to come punch me in the face... =(

Jeffblue 07-21-2010 05:03 PM

relax, it happens. be happy someone didn't hit your car. they are the OEM wheels, if you were to sell them you'd have to take 100 bucks off your price tops. don't be too hard on yourself.

shoopajae10 07-21-2010 05:06 PM

**punch**

Now you have a good excuse to treat yourself to a really nice set of wheels of your choosing, and you have a good winter set that has character now.

No this is true, but... it was me that cause pain on the z... it was something that was in my control... things outside one's control is bad luck... but this... i deserve to be put in pain...

Jordo! 07-21-2010 05:42 PM

I totally understand -- if you feel responsible, the deed feels regrettable as it (theoretically) could have been avoided.

On the bright side, it sounds like pretty minor damage (pic?), so don't kick yourself too hard over it.

yellowgold 07-21-2010 06:01 PM

be happy that a hybrid Honda didn't park itself near you

fullmonty 07-21-2010 06:48 PM

Id go abuse my wallet and get a replacement wheel with new tires... A pair that is. :p

4r3s 07-21-2010 08:06 PM

I'd rather it be me than someone else that does damage to my car honestly. I can stand being mad at myself for doing something stupid but when its someone else that I have to be mad at it feels horrible. Especially if you never find out who it was, then you just go around being mad at the world.

supraman626 07-21-2010 08:29 PM

don't be too hard on yourself, this happen to me too a couple months ago. you can always get a good rim repairer to fix it. Just be glad to be fortunate to own such a beautiful car. :icon18:

Thank you, only if you were Chuck Norris...

Xan 07-21-2010 10:52 PM

According to Einstein's theory of relativity, Chuck Norris can actually roundhouse kick you yesterday.

If you buy me a round trip ticket in Business Class since you are in Sydney. ;)

billydsz 07-22-2010 07:49 AM

I did the same thing in my 05 350z when it was less than a year old. I tried to drive around with it, but I literally couldn't stand it. I bought a replacement wheel. The downside of parking in spots with no car to your right and trying to hug the curb.

Chuck Norris could punch you into last week and then you could avoid the scratch. Or can you? Bwahahahahahahaha.

BeachZTT 07-22-2010 08:01 AM

I feel you pain but at least it is not body damage!

ZedZed 07-22-2010 08:13 AM

Hum, overreacting a little here? Enjoy your life a little and think of what really matters, a scratch on an alloy is not part of my personal top 10 reasons to go nuts.

Cunnos 07-22-2010 08:25 AM

Dude dont worry about it, the best thing you can do is completely detail and wash your car, make sure she is happy, and she will forgive you. I had someone park a hybrid on the left side of my car ( see the thread "i got hit-help for the story) and that took some time to get over. Be strong, deep breathes, wash car, check engine, sing songs to her in the garage, and you will both be fine.

nolan1016 07-22-2010 08:59 AM

I would much rather scratch a rim then put a dent in a bumper or something like that.

Dude, at least you lasted 9 months. I put a dent on my rear left wheel after a week of owning the Z. It sucks but it happens sometimes.

TheWeatherman 07-22-2010 11:40 AM

Like others have said, at least it was you doing the damage.

I had my Z for like 2 months and accidentally dropped a can of insect repellent off of a shelf, onto my back bumper. Still a scratch and a little "dentish looking thing" there, but I look at it and say, "Hey, I did that. :icon17: " Oh well!

Seriously. A can of bug spray? Anything can happen! Enjoy your machine. 97% of the time, you will be the only one who notices anything.

m4a1mustang 07-22-2010 11:47 AM

I have custom time attack stripes on 3 of my 4 wheels because I'm cool like that.

I still hate your color.

At least I am not driving your POS color. You know I heard that all weathermen that drive cars in your color were once weatherwomen. :hello:

I'm super, thanks for asking! :superghey: Mine's called "Tornado Warning Red." Yours is more of a "Period Red." Am I going to get in trouble for that? :icon17:

m4a1mustang 07-22-2010 11:59 AM

What are you talking about? My car is black.

6MT, you know what I'm talking about. Something you'd never thought would happen, just does. You sit there dumbfounded, and all you can do is laugh.

I waited 7 months for my '01 Nissan Pathfinder 3.5 order to arrive. Day 7 of owning the thing, I had my trailer behind the truck on the driveway where I never put it. As habit, I'm back up to turn out of the driveway. SMMMAACCCKKKK! I knocked that trailer down a hill in the yard about 450 feet. The bumper bracket was bent, so it sat a little crooked with a scratch on a little part of it.

I did it! Again, whoops! Never thought I'd smack my own trailer clear across the yard!

Oh, we have the same paint. In the light, it's a bright red. When it's dark out, it's a much darker red to almost black. :rofl2:

Interesting. When I was at the dealer they showed me a red car. I said I don't want red, I want black. So they brought this one around and all the paperwork said it was black. I should have known...

I think it's the ECU noise throwing your sight off. I heard it damages your retinas. Mine clearly looks better.

Cunnos 07-22-2010 12:17 PM

Haha we are laughing ( in a Ron Burgundy voice) i love scotch:tiphat:

OldGuy 07-22-2010 12:31 PM

A guy here repairs those for about $100. Deal direct with him. Don't go through the dealership---they just get him and add on another $50 to $100.
