I seem to remember Click and Clack saying you should use your brakes for what they were designed for, and put wear and tear on $500 brake pads and not a $5000 transmission.

agree with that, for me i downshift just to have it rev. its such a happy noise.

OP, do your thing. Redline everywhere you go. Heck, redline while your car is on coldstart. It'll warm your car up faster.

P.S. My username is redline but I never see redline unless I'm gunning it. Go figure.

i know what you mean, i only downshift to a gear that won't bring the revs past 4k, given the speed i'm going.
