Default My engine oil is low

I had just been driving my car for a little over a month, but when I checked my oil level earlier, I noticed that the oil level was just under the "low" line on the dip stick. I'm going to have to drop by the dealership to see if they will top it off for me.

I'm not certain if the car is burning oil or was just not filled enough at the factory.

after reading alot of these type complaints i think that they come from the factory low on oil. mine was low as well.

Some people have reported that it drinks a bit of oil during the break-in period.

Mine still drinks oil. I add about a half a quart every couple thousand miles or so.

Yea I have a similar situation with mine also, but after deciphering alot of feedback concerning this issue I've come to the concultion that if reved or driven at higher rpms there is some burn off, my Kawasaki ZRX1200R burns a little bit and it has 42,300 miles on it. A slightly heavier oil like a 10W 30 or even 40 wouldn't be a bad idea. I remember using a 20W 50 full synthetic, on the Kawasaki and it poured like a mineral 30W.

Top it off. Keep an eye on it. Brand new engine has to get "saturated".

Top it off yourself. The dealer will manage to screw that up.

tongman - just get regular engine oil at your local autoparts store, 1 qt. no need for synthetic. i think i just got some cheap castrol or valvoline or something.

pour in about 1/2, wipe off dipstick, dip it and check level, add more as necessary.

my car doesnt like to be topped off... i keep it a tad over 3/4 but no higher. otherwise i get burnt oil smell until the oil level is back to about 3/4+. my car has about 2750miles and almost a year old and will be switching to mobil1 silver cap next month. other then that my car is not burning much oil.

I would but would it be bad to mix Nissan's ester oil with conventional oil?

Nope, mixing will be fine. And unless I missed something, if your car is still on the factory fill it won't be Ester oil.

Well, I just got back from the dealership and they topped it off with the Ester oil. Free of charge.

Yes but he did right, know that should be in his maintenance records, just in case something happens down the road.
