the new 370z - really that fast?
hey guys, im reading all the way through this forum, really nice threads here to gain some serious info about the new z. On my search about facts i realized that the new z is maybe not as fast as i expected a 330hp v6 powered car to be. in first tests the 0-100 mark is 12.8 seconds which is about what a 335i coupe can do or 1 sec faster than the 350z. i expected a bit more from the improved z. so its in a range of a stock nsx, mitsu evos and so on. just hope that there are some improvements possible with simple bolt ons like i/h/e. im only talking about pure acceleration - handling for sure is great!
id really like to get this baby once its out here in europe! |

I think if you asked the majority of people around here, they were a little unenthusiastic when the HP numbers were announced. Most of us seemed to want about 350hp. That being said, most of us love the car so much that we are willing to overlook it. This car (from someone who drives a lot of cars) is a fine mix of performance to luxury to value.

There is plenty of room for improvement if you've studied what's available and will be available in the near future. If you want some good straight line speed, look into investing into a supercharger or turbocharger setup and you'll have everything you will ever need. As far as this car goes from an OEM standpoint, I think Nissan did a commendable job. Frost is right about the Z being the Jack of All Trades.

You never know, There are cars that gain +10HP from a K&N filter, so lets give it time, besides
diff dynos=diff results. Its still the best bang for your buck with HP and reliability. |

for sure its not all about speed, but that beeing said already brings up one little weakness of the new z, one that also the old model had, it could have a bit more power. the whole package is really really nice and nissan has done a great job since the design of this car really grows on me. the only thing is the performance. not that im only into straight forward acceleration but this already kept me away from the 350z, i used to have an s2000 before and i really want to make a step forward in pure acceleration and power. sure the z has torque compared to the s, but is it that much faster?
anyway i made my decision and i hope that i can order one soon. the whole package convinced me. |

+1. A lot of my old Mustang buddies don't understand why my next ride is going to be a Z simply because they only see performance in terms of the 1/4 mile. This car is so much more than that.

Having
Having done 140MPH in this car within the last two weeks, there is plenty of power and speed left in my 370z, at 120 you can feel the power coming as you climb to 130 then 140 and for me, when is the next time I am going to a track and run the 1/4 mile, never. But I have yet to leave a red light and not get my way to the front of the pack.
And I have always valued roll on speed, How fast can I go from 55 to 75 to get around an idiot on the highway, and this car rolls on power. D |

that sounds good. i was a bit worried cause many people here complained about the lack of power of the 350z, that they are not as powerful as numbers say and dynos proved that many had very low results. but it seems that the new engine is healthier and stronger...

I am VERY impressed with these new Z's.
Ours made 299 to the wheels with just High Flow Cats. The 350z's have a hard time getting to that with all of the bolt ons. All in all I like the power of the the 370 |

I look for great performance in many areas, and it seems the 370z has been consistently in the top of all of those areas, from interior styling, to exterior styling, to engine performance, to chassis performance. |
