I think if the car is running and in gear, that you can't just come up to it from the outside and hit the button to unlock it. But i've not tried it so can't be for sure on this.

I know for sure while in park and with the engine off the doors do unlock from the outside. I have to try it with the engine running and in gear. I really hope the button doesn't unlock my doors lol

if some ghetto *** is smart enough to use the button on the outside of my car when i'm sitting at a light or stopsign, i'll quickly show him the error of his ways and present my bear arms in his face. doubtful anyone other than z owners know about the button because everyone that sees me open my doors stare at me like they saw jesus or something.

From another thread on this forum...
Tested it. With two fobs, car not running, I put fob "a" in the cup holder, fob "b" in my pocket, closed the door, and locked it with the button under the outside door handle. Two beeps; car locks. I unlock it, lock it again, two beeps. Walk away. Leave fob "b" in house, go to car (fob "a" still in cup holder), try to unlock, will not unlock. Get fob "b" from house, car unlocks. Leaving fob "a" in car did not make it behave any different than if it wasn't in there. Of course if I try to lock the car without having a fob on me, and have a fob in the cup holder, it beeps like crazy when I try to lock it.

Could location of the key inside the car made much difference? Say it was in her pocket near the door you were opening. The same distance required from the sensor, just on the other side?
Cause I found out the other day if two people walk up to the car at the same time and the fob is my pocket. My passenger cannot use the unlock function even though I am in proximity of the sensor on my side. |
