Hey guys, how many years do you think the 370 will be made before it's replaced? I just bought this RX8 because I had to have room for the kids.

How Many Years Will the 370 Be Made Before Being Replaced?
Hey guys, how many years do you think the 370 will be made before it's replaced? I just bought this RX8 because I had to have room for the kids. But in 5 1/2 years they'll all be driving, so then I can get a 370.
For the record, I love the RX8, so I won't be suffering too much while I wait. Oh and please don't turn this into an RX8 vs 370Z thread. They're both awesome cars. |

I love the way the RX-8 R3 looks and it feels great sitting in the cockpit of the car. Just wish it had a bit more power...
If I had to be "stuck" with that car for a couple years until I could get a 370z I think I could survive

The Z's history in the US:
First generation = 9 years Second generation = 4 years Third generation = 13 years Fourth generation = 12 years Fifth generation = 5 years |

I think I'll be able to "suffer" with it for a few years. I'm surprised at how quickly the 370 is expected to be replaced. |

The 350 only had 5 years with a half good/half bad economy. I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to push the 370 to at least 7. All the 2009s still at dealers means these things aren't selling like hotcakes.

New bumpers or refresh is not a new generation. If a new Z was coming out in 2013 or 2014 Nissan would already have test mules and we would have spy shots.

Well keep in mind that the first gen, during those 9 years, got 5 revisions. Three of those 5 revisions included different engines and names (240z, 260z, 280z) The 3rd gen or 300zx Z31 was only around 6years (84-89) with 3 model changes during it's reign. The 4th gen or 300zx Z32 was only around 7years (90-96) or 9 years in Japan as it went until 98. Which brings me to my final point, Nissan kept the 300zx alive for 13-15years (depending on country) without changing the name. It's possible Nissan does this again with the 370z. Leaving the 3.7 engine but redesigning the car. It's possible in the future they go back to a n/a and FI option. Keeping the lower displacement would keep gas mileage from getting worse while the FI option would give the increase in power the car would need to still be competitive. Looking at Nissan's history does shed some light on possibilities but it also shows us that they change their minds a lot (as does any car company). So who really knows until Nissan releases some info |
