How to remove bird dropping residue
I sprayed Meguire's Detailer to remove a couple spots of bird droppings and add a couple layer of wax soon after, but i still see some etching which i couldn't remove.
I think the droppings must have been on my car for two hours max. as soon as i got home, i removed it immediately. it's hard to see but if i shine a flashlight at a certain angle, i could see the etching. BTW, I talked to one of nissan engineers before and he told me since the Z use aluminum doors and hood, the paint doesn't hold very well. that's why paint on the Z is so sucky. anyway is there anyway i can remove the residue/etching? would a clay bar work? |
I had this happen too. I couldn't remove it, even with polishing compound.

Use car wash soap and water. Make sure it's foamy and clean off the crap. Dry and just let sit. Don't use any sprays or wax. If you do it right the paint is so soft it will fix itself. If not, time to invest in a Polish.

You might want to try some claybar, it should do the trick.

I'm pretty sure polish and a polisher would remove it. I would try a lot of lube and clay it before trying the polish. If you have turtle wax you can try that. The wax is strong enough to remove oxidation. I don't use turtle wax any more but I have used it on the z to remove stuff stuck to the car that soap won't remove. I only use clay to remove stuff on the paint.

LOL...That one just pegged my meter! http://images19.fotki.com/v207/photo...bsmeter-vi.gif (the real reason is their paint quality, which he was probably reluctant to fess up to) |

If you can't remove the etching using ScratchX + foam applicator + some elbow grease, then its a permanent damage.

Nissan's paint is seriously crap. They barely use enough to cover a bicycle let alone a car. |

You want to clay bar the area and keep the car away from sun (heat) for at least the next few washes. Polish is ok but you don't want to apply wax if the 'etching' is still visible. Good luck, let us know how it goes!

Nothing will remove it!
