Default Oil Drain Plug Crush Washer-Stupid Question

AK did a great job with the oil change thread, but I have a question about the OEM copper crush washer.
One side of the washer has a greater amount of surface area, and a very small indention/cut-out in the ID of the washer. The other side has a smaller amount of surface area. In AK's DIY Oil Change Thread (Step 6) there is an enlarged view of the washer. Does the side of the washer closest to me in the picture (the side with the small cut-out in the ID) go against the oil pan, or against the head of the drain plug? I used to change my oil all the time, many years ago. This was when the washer was a reusable washer. A disposable washer is new to me.
Stupid question, but I damn sure do not want to put the washer on incorrectly.
I am blind as a bat anyway, so both sides look flat to me...

Place the larger side against the oil pan. But it really won't make a difference which way it goes.

Red face

Thanks guys. I do feel kind of like an idiot now. When I put the side with the small notch against the head of the drain plug, and then look directly down at the plug, it is kind of obvious that it fits this way.
