I, too, have an automatic. Therefore my life is devoid of fun, and my masculinity is threatened.
Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to get some Ben and Jerry's ice cream from my fridge and watch my favorite show on Lifetime. |

Whereas I drive a 6MT! I live life on the edge, a 1/4-mile at a time. I often take the on ramp... to the Highway to tha DANGER ZONE! http://family-guy-episodes-online.co...-episode-1.jpg |
I drove a stick from my 1989 Ford Super Coupe (second car) through two Maximas (my last being a 2005 SE...awesome transmission...incredible shifting on that which I attribute in part to the Amsoil synthetic gear oil I used) but for the 370Z, if you want performance, then I honestly feel the automatic is the way to go and is what I got.
Review after review will show the autos .1 to .2 seconds quicker in the quarter. I believe the Corvettes are that way now too. The technology has just gotten that good. I don't particularly care for an auto but the paddle shifters make it tolerable and the .1 to .2 seconds difference (more unless you are a good stick man) in the quarter is worth giving up on some fun for me. Drive both and see what you prefer though. |

It pained me to get an auto...it really did...but I like performance and the best reviews I have seen all had autos (and interestingly enough...not the sport package 370s...thinking the extra rotational mass of the Sport package wheels and tires may slow it down a tick). Anyway, my auto is quick. You should drive one sometime. |
sorry auto. there is nothing normal about the 7at in the 370.
if there's a car under 35 with a better one i would like to see it. IMHO |
Why don't you auto guys put a shift boot and pretend you're cool like us MT guys? :D

ALso: please provide the link or provide the magazine. I just haven't read that anywhere. Keep in mind that I drive Audi's DSG all the time so I directly compared the two and didn't like the Z 7AT. Of course I hate the R8's R-tronic also which isn't a DSG. High speed shifting on the R8 sucked w/ that tranny. I loved the R8 manual though!! |
