Mileage Calculator

Does the new Z have an instant mileage calculator ...for range .....mileage per gallon...etc?

semtex 02-19-2009 07:51 AM

Well, it's on the left side of the dash. Here's a picture

You can no longer see it on the gauge pod like 350Z. Hope the picture help you get an idea.

Does it also show the mileage that you are getting as you drive?

Not sure if that gauge shows it but I if you get the Navigation package it will show you all that info on the Navi screen...

Yes, it has a silly little meter that shows your mpg as you drive. Like if you floor it, it goes down to zero. If you're just coasting it says you're getting like 50mpg or something silly like that. I don't use it. Can you tell that I think it's silly?

FERRARI 02-20-2009 07:17 PM

Thanks again Semtex

Thanks again, but that silly little thing can teach you how to drive in a more efficient way....not intending to hurt anyone's feelings........but I had an Eldorado in the 80's that had one of these. even tho we drive the Z for other reasons, we still at times can drive more efficiently....

semtex 02-20-2009 07:53 PM

I agree completely, Ferrari. However, usefulness and silliness are not mutually exclusive, my friend. ;)

FERRARI 02-20-2009 08:12 PM

The one I had was very useful and taught me a lot about just how to use the gas peddle ......and before that I thought I already knew how to do that.......

Porsche put an up shift light on the 944 in 83. A light would come on indicating it was time to shift for best economy. If it sensed that you were going hard through the gears then it changed to show the best point for full power runs. Silly - yes, useful - yes at $4/gal.

I believe there was a fuel economy gauge as well. I think the guy at the factory told me it was basically a vacuum gauge.

Sub'd. I can't quite read what the other things are saying. Mine only shows one thing at a time, such as MPG, instant MPG, Range, etc. I think its a huge waste of space, and consequently I don't use it for much..
