How about rigging an exposed wire that runs from the battery to the lugs!

dude some guy came on the forum yesterday who said he drove a G35 but he had a brand new set of rays 19" for sale in your area i believe for a 1000 flat with tires tpms. We asked why they were so cheap and then he raised them to 1600 and then deleted the post.

what are we to do when the police don't do anything? I had the address and phone number of the guy who stole my wheels and the police said it was too speculative.

any thoughts on the lugs for those locks i mentioned? i Think these locks could be a solution. if we get enough interest maybe they'd make a Japanese spec one. unlike the typical wheel locks, this design seems like they actually work.

its funny. people could steal their own wheels and file a false police report and insurance claim and make off with 4k, plus selling their wheels. Of course that's illegal, and insurance companies/police would totally catch you if you did that. However, they are perfectly content paying claims and having theives make off with all the profit?

US justice systems is unfair and there are crooks everywhere. Heresy is not enough probable cause to make a charge. You should check out the movie "Law Abiding Citizen".

how did you find them?

The police came out and finger printed the entire outside of my truck when they stole my SRT wheels. They followed up by sending a guy out to collect the video we had of them taking them right out of the driveway and they followed up a couple days later to get some photos of the wheels so they could take them around to pawn shops and such.

I still haven't heard anything since them and this was back in April. Bad part is that like others have said, they can always come back for them again. Try it, and I promise you, you won't be able to pull that wheel off very easily. They have to jack it up, and with that, they have to jack it up far enough to take the "slack" out of the suspension before the tire comes off the ground so it should work.

As for the wheel locks, don't kid yourself. they might stop the random kid next door, but someone that is doing this for a living will have a socket to happen on the lug and take it off, or they have thing that looks like a socket but with a wedge piece inside. They hammer that on and it splits the lug right in half.

As for the insurance, it depends on your insurance I guess, but when mine were stolen Progressive cut me a check the next day. It was then up to me to actually buy the wheels, tires, lugs, TPS, have them mounted and get them back on the truck. Depending on what you can get the new wheels/tires and such for you could come out ahead of the game but probably not by much.

Police came, said it was a professional job, left no prints and was probably in and out of there in less than 10 minutes.

The sad thing is, this area has had no crime in the last 30 years the neighborhood was built. Police said the only things he ever came to this area for in the past 3 years with the county was for parties. There's recently been a construction crew working on the parking lot and all fingers really point to them. Even worse... it only perpetuates the stereotype of the poorer class workers (african american/hispanic) who resort to this type of activity because it's a predominately caucasian/asian community.

I'm looking for suggestions for a new set of wheels though: In the market for wheels/tires I'd appreciate any suggestions.

Did the insurance company send someone out to look a the car? I just went out to check this morning and the side-molding on the car is damaged by where they positioned the bricks. They weren't placed under the support areas. I'm looking to have this fixed too since I'm already going to pay a 1k deductible

Same thing with me. Thing is, if you were a thief, would you scope out the poor dirty neighborhoods or would you go to the nice wealthy areas where you can find goodies like nice wheels.

The good part about the garage is not the security of it, but the fact that when the criminals are casually driving around looking for a target, your car is out of sight so it's never an issue unless they followed you home.

Yes, they had someone out the very next day. Luckily (if you can call it that) I had ZERO damage done anywhere on the truck. And like you, there wasn't a finger print anywhere.

the garage is the best. the area's criminals like the most are the upper middle class areas. Where people can afford the nice cars, more than one usually, but don't have enough garage space to keep any/all of them. so they keep them in the driveway and rely on the fact that their neighborhood is safe to protect their cars. But the truth is, their neighborhoods are safe. These kinds of criminals aren't the ones who would mug you if you were outside your house. They are sneaky spineless losers who have no balls. Having a safe neighborhood can't protect you from having this happen because these people come from far and wide to where you live, raid the neighborhood, and then leave. And no one else cares unless they have a nice car, because all most people care about is personal safety, and no one is going to start a neighborhood watch to protect cars from vandalism.
