Almost smashed the Z today (Yes, VDC was on)

And thank goodness the ABS was working as well. There was a car going the same direction as me in the center turn lane waiting to make a left turn.

Default Almost smashed the Z today (Yes, VDC was on)

And thank goodness the ABS was working as well.

There was a car going the same direction as me in the center turn lane waiting to make a left turn. I was at 35 MPH (for once I wasn't speeding ). Out of nowhere a car turns left in front of me. I had nowhere to go. Hit the brakes as hard as I could. ABS did its job and I missed the other car by less than a foot.
I never saw the car until it was sideways in front of me. They couldn't have been at a stop as they were there so quickly. I think my heart rate just returned to normal.

Thank you Sport package.

If I had been in my Saturn it would've ended badly.

Same thing happened to me a month ago. I had the right of way, when a lady in a Honda Accord coming from the oposite direction turns left without looking so she could go into a gas station. I missed getting into an accident by inches. Road was damp and ABS was doing everything possible, just about stalled and stopped inches from hitting the curb. I was shaken up the whole afternoon. Pissed off more than anything else. A whole lot of idiots out there. It could have been a lot worst.

Drive safe.

plenty of idiots out there...its why i like having a quick and nimble car with good brakes....although i've also thought about going the alternate route and getting a humvee. if you can't avoid'm, just run over'm.

I've had a few close calls. My heart rate never really goes up but boy oh boy does my pissed off level go up sometimes.

Good thing there wasn't a car behind you!

Wow. Strange day. Just found out that the parents of a friend got rear-ended right about the same time as I had my close call. It doesn't end there, same friends wife was almost run in to on the highway by someone not paying attention while on a cell phone. She had to slow quickly for traffic and saw someone coming up quick in the rear view. Luckily there was no guard rail and she pulled off into the grass. The car stopped just short of the car she was behind. Damn good situational awareness on her part.
The parents are ok. Just minor damage.

Be careful out there. It is a crazy start to this holiday weekend.

Didn't you get the memo? It was National Dips*** Driver's Week. First week of the month. Everyone gets their welfare checks and has to hurry to get to the bingo parlor.
(you're not picking up on the bitterness are you?)

....Yesterday. 4 lanes goes into 3 lanes. Dipcrap people wait 'til the last minute to move over. Girl moves over at the LAST possible moment. Pulls over, starts texting. Texts some more. Lights cigarette. Leans over (while car is moving) to pick up something on the passenger's side (probably her frickin' cellphone). Swerves drastically, then swings into the next lane to the left. Meanwhile man in car (me) whose car is worth 5 times what her car is worth, sits courteously in the lane that he is supposed to be in while NOT talking on the phone or anything else.

< getting sick of the majority of the people that have zero courtesy.

You just made me relive my near-Z-death experience.

Going to work at 4am in the dark: Getting off the highway there was a double light (first is a one-way to the right, second is one-way to the left). As I'm turning left at the second light onto the one-way left street, a car comes out of nowhere going the opposite (wrong) direction in the lane I'm turning into. Thank God our brakes are incredible.
