2011 New Color

If the new color is Gunmetal or Gun Metallic, I will be disappointed. As a PG owner myself, I think there are too many shades of gray already. As stated on other threads, there are plenty of better (cooler & exotic) colors that could have been chosen. I just wanted to place a picture showing the differences.

What next? Graphite Smoke? Carbon Mist?

If it wasn't for that damn ugly red interior, the 40th would be perfect.

Nismo_370z 07-01-2010 09:18 AM

The gun metalic is sick...is that the 2011 nismo?

rha600 07-01-2010 09:21 AM

that photo is a GT-R.

I prefer the gun metallic but like mention that is a GTR color.

Lemers 07-01-2010 09:33 AM

Gunmetal would be fine if it replace PG and the 40th anv graph. Won't be offered next model year. But they still need a color to replace blkchy (if it was ment to be a one year color).

Nismo_370z 07-01-2010 09:40 AM

Thanks for the info bro. That is what im shooting for my next car purchase in a few years.

I couldn't find a picture of the new color, so I used the GT-R as a reference.

Still wish a more exotic color came out.

Why buy a car that you don't even know what it looks like in a picture?

Matt 07-01-2010 11:09 AM

If the gunmetal is the same color as the GTR, it'll be the best looking color to me.

forget about what it looks like, wait til he finds out how much it costs to maintain it...

kielbasa16 07-01-2010 11:20 AM

I agree with both sides of the argument

On one hand it would be nice to see an exotic color rather than another shade of gray

But I have always thought if the PG was a bit darker itd be the hottest color.

Nismo_370z 07-01-2010 11:26 AM

I always wanted the GTR It was about 10k over my budget. So that allows me to do more mods to make it faster than a stock GTR. I still need to figure out the traction situation!

Looks a LOT better in person btw.

kenchan 07-01-2010 11:32 AM

nissan really needs to darken the door handles on those darker colors.

i was originally going to go with platinum but decided billiant silver cause the door handles/logo/wheels all look more consistent with silver.

tjlazer 07-01-2010 11:38 AM

Very dissapointing.

They should of done Athens Blue this time around.

It's funny because I was reading through the old sticky from when it was first announced and people were posting how it's going to sell like hot cakes and everything. I just did a search and there are 40th anniversary cars all over the place. haha.

that didn't answer the question. And that $10K will get you an exhaust.

Nismo_370z 07-01-2010 12:55 PM

What I was refering too is doing mods to my NISMO and making it faster than a stock GTR....But what makes the GTR so high maint? Y would you think it would cost 10K for an exhaust upgrade? Educate me my friend...

Yellow is still the best limited edition color! Should've brought back the orange for 2011 though.

Wow, I didn't realize that the mods were that freaking expensive. That is insane. Thanks for the info:tup:

wishihadnav 07-01-2010 02:17 PM

laguna seca blue for the Nismo would be nice.

LinPark 07-01-2010 02:21 PM

You might as well include white and black in that line up since technically everything from white to black covers the entire "colorless" palette. So, assuming this new gunmetal replaces the dark cherry, that means you'll have 7 choices for exterior: 1 is red, 1 is blue, and the other 5 are some combination of white and black with sparkles. :) Granted the Maxima has 5 white/black shades but at least it has 4 other colors to choose from. Come on Nissan, give the Z enthusiasts something to be happy about.

370Zapper 07-01-2010 03:30 PM

What no color will you chose?

Quite the options if you don't want color.

billydsz 07-01-2010 03:38 PM

In 05 Nissan offered the 350 in Daytona Blue which is the best car color I've ever seen. Wish they would bring that one back.

yellowgold 07-01-2010 04:45 PM

is those colors are official colors or just rumors?

zmyride 07-01-2010 04:54 PM

How about this color?

rha600 07-01-2010 05:05 PM

I am kind of glad they didn't come out with a cool new color since I'm hoping to pick up a left over 2010 in cherry at a good price. This keeps my decision process easy. :D But yeah, they need to take a tip from Porsche and offer the kind of color selection they offer on the 911s.

I agree, Nissans love affair with Silvers/Grays started in 03 with the Max. They offered 4 different shades and have pretty much continued that trend here and there on the Z and Max since. :shakes head:

I wish they had kept Chicane Yellow which is fitting for a Sports car!

Lemers 07-01-2010 05:56 PM

When I lived in japan from 2001 to 2004 most cars were whites blacks grays and silvers. Nissan's color offers may just be a cultural thing.

Kirkster 07-01-2010 06:20 PM

As a former owner of a Lemans Sunset I am way tired of the 12 shades of gray that Nissan puts out every year.

I lusted over the CY but last year was way to busy and way too uncertain to buy a car.

I had to settle for a Cherry Black as I really did not want a black car again but it was tough finding a touring roadster in other than silver (no SP so it was out), black, and cherry black. The nearest Red or Blue one was in North Carolina...

I would kill for a porsche GT3 orange color on a Z.

Absolutely!!! The yellow looks great. I saw one last week, and it kind of made me wish I had gotten that over my PW.

You forgot amethyst graphite and phantom graphite on the G 37 to really get the full effect of nissan gray overkill. Lmao!

Add Maxima's Radiant Silver (K12), Mystic Jade(DAD), Dark Slate(K50) and Ocean Grey(RAP) to that grey/Silver list.

370Zapper 07-02-2010 03:33 PM

And the list grows!! Didn't add the Jade since it actually has a green hue to it.

Any pics of the 370z in this new color yet?

Lemers 08-04-2010 09:58 PM

Check out the 40th anv

kree 08-05-2010 01:21 AM

To my eyes the 40th is substantially different than the pics posted above of gunmetal on the GTR. I was hoping someone might have a real pic of the new color on the 370z.

Awesome!
