Wow...I know how a few bits of gravel can sound like 5.1 stereo Saving Private Ryan's D-Day scene behind me.

I imagine a blowout is like feeling your heart stop in your chest!

Luckily the wheels were fine, although I'm planning on getting new ones very shortly anyway. It was the weirdest thing...I heard a ticking noise coming from the back, like when tape or something is stuck to your tire. About a minute later, BAM!!! Tire blew apart.

man, there was no tread left on those tires from what I can tell in those pics. Didn't you say you only had a few thousand miles on the car?

I just went over 17k. I bought the car with about 3k on it, and I have a pretty nasty commute. Still, the tires should have lasted longer than that, right? If Shift would send his wheels out my way, I'd be a lot happier. Oh well...I'll put a couple months on the new tires and throw wheels/tires on later in the summer.

When i replaced my stock touring tires at 10k miles the backs were gone and the fronts were almost there, and i didnt do any events on those, i used them just for street. Granted i do tend to drive it like i stole it..or at least i did after the first 500 to around 4k lol.

HAHA unfortunately it's the easiest thing in the world to do. An old socket hammered onto the lug nut will take it right off. As well a small tool theives use that looks like a socket with a wedge shaped post inside that when happened onto the lug splits it in half.

I know because the wheels on my SRT were stolen about two months ago. We got it on video and it took them all of 10 minutes to take all 4 wheels.

does Nissan offer the wheel and tire insurance when you purchase a new car?

I guess I'm just a little surprised that they went so quickly.

That's the thing...for some reason, the previous owner put aftermarket locks on. So, the dealership didn't have they key. Who's gonna steal stock touring rims??? And even if someone did, who gives a ****? That's just an excuse to upgrade.

Here's the long version of what happened. When the tire blew, I called roadside assistance to come change it because I was in my work clothes and didn't want to get dirty. I figured it would take 45 min or so, then I'd be on my way to a tire shop, rollin' on the donut. When the tow guy gets there, he asked me for the wheel lock key. D'oh!!! I didn't even think of it. We tore the hatch apart trying to find it, with no luck. I assumed they were Nissan locks, so I had him put my car on his flat-bed and drive me to the dealership, which just happened to be about a mile away. The service guy comes out with about 30-40 different keys, and of course none of them fit. He said it shouldn't be a problem to break them off, he was just concerned about slipping and damaging the finish on the wheels. Anyway...they got them all off, and I have new tires. The only thing that sucks is that they didn't have the Yokohama Advans. I just had them throw some Goodyear's on to save a little $$$ since I'm planning on getting new wheels soon anyway.

I just read the UTQG on the Yokohama's....180. No wonder they wore out so quickly.
