How many gallons to fill up?
 

When my low fuel warning light comes on and then I go and fill up at the gas station, I fill up approximately 16.5 gallons. Since the Z has a 19 gallon tank, that means I could drive approximately 60 miles before my car dies. I was just wondering if other owners are getting the same gallons at fill up compared with mine.

Sounds about right. Not all of the 19 gallons are usable, so I wouldn't push it too much.

The sensor is erring on the side of caution. It doesn't want you to use 18.9 gallons before going to the gas station, so it's gonna preemptively warn you to fill up.

As stated in a thread started by me, if you're driving "spirited" prior to getting low on gas, it's going to be that much more cautious in it's prediction of hitting empty.

I never even let it hit the gas light before filling up, I don't know why, probably an OCD or something =]

I've fill up regularly at 17.5 to 18.0 gallons all the time. I like the live on the edge. :)

Its not wise to even let the tank get under a quarter

I can go for 2 gals of beer to fill me up.

about 50$, thats all I pay attention to.

x3. I do as soon as (or maybe 10-15 miles into it) I get the warning. Takes about 17 gallons to fill up from there. As far as how long can you drive after the warning goes off? (1 dot display) about 50 ish miles. I had to take someone to the hospital STAT and I had no option to get gas.

Anyone here ever run out of gas within a half a block of a gas station?

I always fill it when I hit a quarter tank. If you've ever found yourself in a sudden situation where you need to get "spirited" with a quarter tank and you hit the friggin fuel cut... you would too.

Only had 2 fill-ups for the car, both were at 17.5 gallons ~$51.00

Getting my second fill up ever in my Z right now.

I use GasCubby on the iPhone to keep track of my mileage, spending, and maintenance on my Z.

Average Gallons per Fill Up : 16.98
Average Miles per Fill Up : 324.06

Most Gallons per Fill Up : 18.88

I have also gotten the following amounts : 18.00, 18.20, 17.72, 18.40, 17.95, 18.06, 17.54, 18.02, 18.80, 17.90, 19.82, 17.87, 17.70, 18.38, 17.71, 17.64, 17.59, 18.48, 18.18, 17.84, 17.92

Keep in mind I have a tendency to push it too far.. obviously.

I use gas cubby as well. Great app!! Just filled up with Shell premium and filled up 17.5 gallons. Cost me $56.xx.

Does anyone know why we have to use premium, while the mustang can use either 87 or 91?

I've driven 20-30 minutes after the car says I have --- miles left in the tank. Where I was, I had to. When I filled up, I still had 1.5 gal. in the tank :icon14:

Some people argue that the bottom of the tank has contaminents floating around. Others say that is not true. No objective info out there that I have seen either way.

I always fill up when my light comes on telling me to fill up.
