When was the last time there was a thread where a person wanted to trade from a MT to an AT?

Yea, I get what you're saying. I'm not one to argue AT vs MT. Fun factor is based on the drivers perception not the type of transmission. But I do feel people would pay more attention to driving conditions if they drove a MT in some respects.

I agree generally. There are always exceptions to that rule, but the act of driving with a clutch makes you more actively engaged in what you're doing.

I do wish I had chosen the 6MT over the 7AT at times but my daily commute in the 110 and 405 does a damn fine job at reminding why I chose the 7AT in the first place.

^^hehe funny guy. To each their own, the AT guys will come in here and say how they are consistently faster, however AT guys before you say that remember, the car is consistently faster, whether you or your mom be the driver, I can't say the same for my MT.

I was talking to the guy that installed the viper alarm in my car and he has a few corvettes and a trans am and some other cars that he races. The corvette that he drag raced (With 30k in mods) was an automatic. its a 10 second car. He does mostly road course racing one his other vette's (manual transmission) because after a while, he realized that there was no skill involved in what he was doing. It was mashing the accelerator and your along for the ride. With auto's and drag racing, the man with the most money put into his car will win, where is the fun in that?

Umm, drag racing itself is all about how much money you can put down on the car.

And what's with 6MT owners here thinking 7AT owners don't know how to drive stick?

I never said that. In fact, I know several people who know how to drive manual but choose to drive Auto. Whatever makes you happy.

I choose manual because I'm a 3-pedal addict. I enjoy the process. But if you enjoy driving auto, that's fine, too. Live and let live.

Disclaimer: was looking for an excuse to use that pic. don't take personally.

i'm not saying all auto owners can't drive stick. i just think the ones who can't drive stick are the one saying that Manual transmissions are

1. one more thing to be distracted by

2. easy except for starting on hills and in traffic (so basically its all hard except for cruising in 6th gear?)

3. The worst thing in the world in traffic

4. Getting in the way of fooling around with your girlfriend in the car(i remember seeing that one somewhere on this forum)

I know i wouldn't by a sports car unless it had a manual transmission or a dual clutch. Isn't this the same automatic transmission thats in the g37? my mother has a g37, in an auto. I click the shifter and about a second later the car shifts gears. Correct me if i am wrong but i believe they have the same transmission, and i could never settle for that sort of response time in a sports car

I'm with Jeff on this one, sure I won't be as fast as an AT but hey I take gratification in knowing that it takes some skill to drive the MT.
