How hard is it to steal a 370z?

but besides the fact that you'd be pretty f'ckd, what happens when you lose your key?

does the dealer use some computer thing to program another key, or do u have to pay like $23452345 to get another key directly from Nissan?

if you lose your key you go to the dealership (with the car somehow) and then they get two new fobs and use there fancy dealer only computer to reprogram it all, if you don't lose that little metal rectangle with some numbers on it that came with your car then they don't have to replace all the mechanical locks either so keep that baby in your dresser at home (if you didn't think it was just some part tag deal and throw it out like most owners). It's a pain and it will cost you lots of money, and it will be the worst day of your life and totally screw your plans.

For the most part it is very hard to conventially steal the newer Nissan's. They have the newer and ever evolving NATS (Nissan Anti Theft System) A few years back when they stole my G35, they were smart enough to know this and just used a tow truck to steal it. LOL

Even if you had the exact key cut (even the proper laser key for the car) you have to use a Nissan Consult II hand held computer to properly program that particular key or set of keys to your cars particular ECU.
When we flash the ECU's in these cars we have to reprogram both the laser keys for the car as well, otherwise after 10 start attempts without the laser chip in the key properly programmed for the car the cars NATS system (that is built into the ECU) will completely lock any user out, even with the correct programmed key.

^^ mostly true. Unless you have access to a Nissan Consult II computer like we do. LOL But that is usually only issued to Nissan Dealerships.

As for the metal tag, it is the best idea to keep it for sure, but even without it the dealership can look up the code they need based on your VIN # and ECU bar code number. Of course they will want to see ID and a few forms of paperwork to confirm that you do indeed own the car, LOL hahaha

In Australia Nissan car's generally get low scores for security... Subaru get high scores... so i always thought it was a simple system that Nissan used...

in the end if people steal these cars here, they just load on the back of a truck and drive off and deal with the system later...

as many of you know probably, my wheels were stolen off my car parked in my driveway. I did not have wheel locks on, as the dealer didn't have them in stock when i bought the car, and i didn't have time to get them after the fact. I had the car for less than 3 weeks. So yea, no wheel locks, no alarm, in front of my house in a nice neighborhood. you guys think wheel locks alone would have stopped this?

Needless to say, wheels replaced by insurance, in garage, wheel locks installed, viper alarm with tilt sensor/audio sensor/smart start will be installed on thursday.

Will your insurance company ever declare your car totalled if it has been stripped enough?

That's nice, but the 370Z and even the newer 350Z's use the Consult III

Haha... That is true, although...... if you have the correct upgraded software and the newest card for the actual Consult II hand held computer, than you can access many of the Consult III features, including but not limited to the NATS system of the newest cars.

Way to be on top of it though.

I heard wheel locks are a small deterant for someone that knows what they're doing. It'll maybe had 30 seconds to their work of getting your wheels.

Sorta like pad locks on airline luggage, once you know how to pick locks they don't pose much of a threat... Or someone with a bolt cutter or a knife to slash the side of the bags.
