How hard is it to steal a 370z?
I live in Phoenix which is the car theft capitol of the USA and bought a 2010 roadster a few weeks ago. Some Saturday nights we like to go to a restaurant in a high theft area. It's bad enough that employees of the restaurant have had their cars stolen. They were parked around the side rather than in front, but it's still enough of a worry that we drove my wife's car to dinner. It looks to me like it would be hard to steal my car short of towing it away, but if I'm wrong I'd like to find out now rather than finding it missing after dinner.

It would be quite difficult, theres no splicing the red and blue wires together to get it to run like they show in the movies on these cars. It would require someone have the computer knowledge to have a program that would spoof the secure rolling code that your key and ignition modules uses to make it think they have a key.

A good friend of mine works for a car audio place and installs alarms on the daily. I asked if I should invest in an alarm, but he was telling me its almost impossible to steal these cars. He would do an alarm for me if my main concern was the security of articles found inside the cabin, but doesnt suggest an alarm if Im worried about it getting stolen. Being that you have a convertable I would still be cautious because dumb thieves may try and cut the roof to get in, then realize they are f@cked after seeing what they are up against. Or you could just look for a different restaurant to eat at. Im jus sayin'...

Nissan security system is the most advanced of all stock alarms. As far as hotwiring your car? It would be extremely difficult. Even if they knew how it would take too long to bother. But there are no suspension sensors. So stealing your car wheels would be easy. Also there's some kinda trick with magnets they do to shut off alarms. So they can steal your whole interior. Seats gauges, pull the motor right out of the hood.
But your chassis will stay right there. You kno why? The computer kill switch will make sure that they never start the car. But when there's a will there's a way. A well financed car thief ring would just tow it without attracting too much attention. So just make sure you have insurance and enjoy your car without paranoia of thievery. Just take normal precautions. Don't park on dead streets. Don't park in a solitary area. A lot of people do that so the car won't get scratched but it makes it a total mark for thieves. Trust me. I know a few ex-car thieves. Sport package will be a target cuz the rim and tires alone are worth 3k. The nismo almost 5k. The brake kits are the new hot item. So expect more thievery this summer. Also the bose head units sell pretty well. You got alota guys out there that bought base and for $1,000 to 1,500 can get YOUR touring packages. Lol. That sux. |

Do not go to metrocenter if you own a ford or dodge truck. it will be stolen. Your Z should be safe from being stolen there but with all the little ***** at castles and coasters it will get vandalized. Dont go. there is nothing worthwhile at metrocenter that you cant find somewhere else.
