Thanks for your answer. The Nismo part confuses me. Is it really in the B class?

Yes. The ability to run huge tires on stock rims helps a bunch. I see guys running 305s up front on their nismos, competing with s2ks running 6.5" fronts....

Of course, autox isn't everything, and any z will eat an s on a road course....

Thanks again. Sorry to sound so ignorant but why can the nismo run fatter tires than the rest of us?

I saw a fellow selling a set of sport wheels. I assume I would want his rears on the front of mine to run a square set up or would I want the fronts on rear or something else all together?

Stock class lets you run whatever you can fit on stock size rims...nismo has an extra half inch of rim to work with over the base z (and as much as 3" over other contenders). Tires are absolutely huge in determining how fast you can go.

If it was me, I'd be running rears all around. They're very aggressive up front, but a 10" front rim makes the car absolutely nasty. With good tires, the grip limits are unbelievably high--will probably leave your balls as the limit, rather than grip

Oh ya, S2ks stock tranny and rear end aren't good past 400whp..
I ran the stock trans at 700whp with no issues.

A bit of an update for me (relevant to this topic).

This past weekend I sold my '05 S2000. I bought it new and put about 50k miles on it. It was babied (looks and drives like new) so I got top dollar for it (above retail value), hence why I sold it. It was a good deal for the buyer too because it still had warranty and was never modified. Not a single accident either.

Now a few days later I find myself filled with regret. I love my Z so don't get me wrong, but I miss the S a lot. I ride sport bikes but only on weekends. The S was like riding a sportbike during the week. Truly an amazing experience!

So now I'm hunting for a used S2000. My budget is fairly low because I want to build more of a track car with it this time but there will be one sitting in my garage again soon.

I'll have my Z for a long time, but I'll probably always have an S.

^the S always kinda feels like "the one that got away" whenever you sell it. Just a truly special car. I plan to buy another one once things settle down a little for me.

Great to get some extra cash, sad to see the car go. If I could reverse the decision I would, but I'm going to try an AP1 this time around.

Pretty similar. The AP2 is a little dressier inside IMO. It's also a little wider because the door panels (interior pieces) are not as thick. The shifter is smoother and the rear end a little quieter.

I'm looking for a 2002-2003 with average miles, good condition, etc. I'll probably just throw a set of coil overs on the car, 17's that are not too expensive and some good rubber. As for brakes some cooling ducts, slotted rotors, good brake pads and fluid and it should be a good car for track events. If it was my DD then AP2 for sure. However, the Z is my DD now.

I hate you guys, always making me spend money.

I was thinking about supercharging the 5.0 and daily driving an s2k. I'm very practical.

to me when people reference the 370 as being "all power" i just shake my head because although it does have some power behind its 3.7 liter v6, its a car whose repuatation is built more on the design, the heritage with handling exc....

as to the Mustang whose history is more geared for the "power" aspect. after all.... the mustang is referred to as "old school american muscle"

go with the 370. you wont be disappointed.
