I rarely post here but figured I'd chime in on this thread....
Back in 2004 I test drove an S2000 and was disappointed in several categories compared to the Z: 1. Torque was not all that. You had to wind it up to high RPMs just to get anything out of it. 2. It simply felt like I was driving a go-kart. In fairness, this is how many people like their car to feel but I just felt the Z was a bit more refined. 3. The soft top was no where near the ease of the Z. Having to get out of the car to put the cover on the back was annoying and simply not something I was going to do on a daily basis. The Z, having the hard cover, was simply a better option for me.... and better looking with the top down. NOTE: I was specifically shopping for ragtops. Also, I have to say I was a little disappointed in the get up and go of the Z Roadster (even though I bought the Z and drove it for 5.5 years) but it simply seemed to be the better ride of the two. I now own a 370 Nismo and I could honestly say that I'd never even try to compare the 370 and the S2k. The 370 is simply a far better car than both the 350 and the S2000. With regards to the cornering ability.... Yes, the S2K might be able to handle slightly better than the Z due to less weight, but the Z will be so far ahead of the S2K that by the time the S2K had a chance to outhandle it, it's too late. The Z (both 350 and 370) will simply catch up or get further ahead upon every single straight away. |

blah, in 2004 you were 6yrs younger and there was no 370Z. you need to compare cars at the same time.
the S2K was never slow if not just as fast as the 350Z of that time. unless the driver just sucked. |

It boils down to this.
Are you a woman. If you answer yes then you are allowed to drive a s2000. Are you a man. If you answer yes then you are NOT allowed to drive a s2000. I know this guy who is like 250 pounds and is 6'3 and drives a s2000 or miata (i honestly can't tell the difference) and I want to slap him in the face everytime I see him. Just because.

I ran a 13.9 in 2001 with my bone stock s2000.
Its not a slow car , compared to the GT mustangs and cars of its day, it was actualy pretty quick. The Z will also take much more abuse before breaking down too, which is a big thing if its your daily driver that you plan to beat on.

S2000 is a great car. Honestly I think its more fun to drive than the 370z, however I think the Z is easier to live with. My friend has a hardtop on his S2000 so idk anything about the convertable. I also love the engine in the S2000, it revs like none other.

Chriz... stop being so edgy with the Z at the end of your name and a giant phallic symbol as your picture. Your too cool.

Maybe it's because the s2000 and a miata look identical to me that it's hard to see a guy driving it. But there are just some cars that are chick cars, and IN MY OPINION this happens to be one. You have the Celica, the Sunfire, the Neon, and the s2000. lol
I mean if Modshack wants to drive one that's fine... he's secure in his manhood. I know someone that can hook him up with a flashy rainbow sticker as well. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Before I saw a 370z, I wanted the S2000 to be my next car. Black or Dark Blue with a hard top and of course I'd get it turbo'd/tuned.
Ever since I got next to a pearl white 370z sport, it changed my mind. I haven't driven either, but I can understand where people come from each perspective of those cars. S2000 is more nimble, you feel more in control of the car(go cart feel like others have said), but the 370z is everything else. I bet I would love the feel of the S2000, but I'd trade a little control for more power, a little better looks and interior room. To say the S2000 is a woman's car, most ignorant statement ever. Maybe a stock baby blue AP1 can be considered that, but the S2k was made to be a track car. definitely a woman's car..... both are nice cars. Do you want to spend <$25k for a S2K or >$25k for a 370z? Pretty much what it would come down to since you can't go wrong with either. |

Seriously, do people not see the S2k's and Miata's for what they are? They're handling cars that go fast, not fast cars that try to handle. In no way would I call either of them a woman's car. Raw track cars if you ask me. The Z is more of a mix between power and handling of course. But doesn't excel in either spectrum compared to the handling of a miata/s2k or power of a big v8.
