The answer to your other question is yes...I think...at least...I hope.
Then you most certainly are following suit with soooooo many men before you. I mean is there some sort of rule book that I don't know about that says that when a dude gets divorced or freaks out, he must run out and get a damn Corvette?

Just see it for what it is. A bad *** car that has that terrible stigma attached.

Cool

As an enthusiast I say life is too short. Get the Vette if you like it. Seriously, why not?

Or have two household incomes and no kids and a very supportive significant other

That said, the part I'm having the most trouble "finding" the funds for, is TT&L. It might be a deal breaker. I can do it 6 different ways, and one way will work, another will put things in the read for a day or two. I feel certain that it can be done, and that I'm overshooting TT&L. I think for the Z, it was around $1480. For my truck it was $838. Truck cost about half as much as the Z. Given the trend it'll be abour $1850-$1900.

Does anyone know if you don't drive it, if you have to pay TT&L? lol...

That and I'm reconsidering on the color. The OCD in me does not like black. But then again, I have a boatload of Zaino that I've never used, a Porter Cable 7424XP that just arrived...and well...yeah...why have that crap if I won't use it, right?

me and my dad got a C6 back in 2004 like right when they came out.. i drove it for about a year and a half its was pretty cool... loaded with NAV Z51 but was it an auto ( the 4 speed at that) so i dunno.. right after that i got my nismo 350 and had alot more fun with that car. now the newer ones are better with the LS3 and even the auto is better a 6speed with paddle so i might like them better now but to me i guess just because i had one over 5 years ago the body style is just so old news.. if i had 45K to spend or whatever.. i would take a 40th anni or nismo 370 Z over a base C6 and pocket the difference.

Do what makes you happy, pure and simple. Z's are nice, corvettes are nicer. If the numbers work I say why not.

Fuckin' 430+ HP is hard to say no to...

Damn.... if you are having trouble coming up with the TT&L, then don't do it. That's a sign that you are stretching too much for a car. Plus they will be coming out with a remodel soon. At least wait til they come out with spy photos to see if you rather have the new generation corvette. Until then, I say enjoy the Z.

check kerbeck.com. I believe that's the pricing you can get. msrp + incentive is way too expensive for the vette.

Do what makes you happy, but if you are having to stretch to cover TT&L I think it's probably not a good decision, at least right now.

TT&L is around 2K (at least that's what I'm budgetting for) - 2K out of pocket is more than I'd like to spend just about anything - I had the same "problem" when I bought our Civic, the Z, my truck...I hate paying for TT&L, but it's unavoidable...short of not titling it...which means not driving it...

As for the deal itself, I think what they are doing is inflating the Z's value over what they would normally give, instead of dropping the price on the vette. Personally, I'd rather they not, since a lower price on the vehicle means less TT&L.

Truer words were never spoken. I also note that Corvettes are everywhere, not much exclusivity. I also note that most Vette owners are 60-75 years old.

GM makes a big deal (as does Ford) about highway mileage numbers for the Vette (and Ford with the new Mustang GT). In the real world, however, expect about 12-13mpg (combined) with a big V-8. Don't believe me? Look at Car & Driver's fuel economy ratings on their road tests.

So...when gasoline is again $4/gallon, you will be crying in your beer that you gave up your fuel-efficient 6-cylinder Nissan. And when the Vette's crappy interior and shitty seats lose their new-car luster....

Real world, I get around 20MPG...plus, given that I didn't drive the Z much, I likely won't drive the Corvette much. I put 3300 miles on the Z on the year I've had it.

That's not a whole lot of miles...a Corvette would probably be a little less, I imagine. So, gas prices aren't that big of a concern.

My beef with the Z mostly comes down to that I chose the 7AT over the 6MT - I wanted a 6MT, but couldn't get one, and took a "better deal" from the dealership. I also wanted platinum...but again, they were of course telling me that if I had to order it from another dealer or from Japan, that there'll be charges associated with it. More than likely, had I stuck to my guns, I wouldn't be considering anything else.

But...having driven the corvette, it's a damn fine car. Even though it is a base model, I'm not that worried about it.

The only thing about this specific car that I'm 50/50 on, is the color. Looks amazing in black, but, given what I go through with the Z (also black), I think my OCD will find a 6th gear...lol

I've had cheap cars all my life - the Z is the most expensive car I've had. It has a lot of plastic inside....but I find the seats in the corvette, and the feeling of more room, better.

Maybe I'm seeing through rose-colored glasses...but I will say the ride in the Z is definately sharper on bumps...that was clear to me.

Well the MPG you see from Car & Driver and other magazine tester’s is a result of constant flogging of the vehicle. It's the same with pretty much any car they test. The Vette gets commendable MPG because of it's great power to weight ratio but of course you're going to get **** MPG if you drive like a mad man everywhere just like any other vehicle.

Older folks drive vettes? So what, why let stereotypes push you away from having a really nice sports car? And even though the design is a bit old it still looks fantastic in my opinion and I would think most people think the same if you happen to be worried about what others think. The only thing I’d be worry about is the insurance; I hear it’s quite high for vettes.
