Went to a chevy dealership today...
And I drove a 2010 Camaro 2SS.
Then I drove a Corvette 1LT. Corvette = win. I'm SERIOUSLY thinking of trading in my Z (only way I could do it) - am I nuts? I know many of you here traded a Vette in for a Z and do not regret the purchase....why? This car (to me) outclasses the Z in performance and has style to boot. The Camaro...just seemed pretty average. Big engine, not a lot of personality. I liked the exhaust bubbling on decel though...lol One thing though, seems there's a really STRONG dealership for corvettes somewhere - I don't remember where it was mentioned but for internet-based sales, it was mentioned that the prices can't be beat. The other thing is that this dealership said they are selling at MSRP. $3K cashback, which about 2/3rd is being used to make up the difference between what I owe, and what they can give me for the Z. Thoughts/advice? |

A lot of Z owners came from C6 vettes or older model vettes? I couldn't imagine taking a downgrade like that unless I was struggling financially. I would be happy with even the base C6 corvette; it still blows the doors off the Z. Not saying the Z is a bad car or anything though. I wonder what insurance is like however...

Yeah, I'll be checking on that tomorrow.
I checked on the Camaro, and oddly, it's $77 cheaper than the Z / 6 mo. I'm also looing over the "deal" they are giving me...I'm not quite sure it's a good one. They are giving me a trade allowance of $31750 for the z. (Black on Black Sport/Touring 7AT, 3300 miles, Fast Intentions cat-back, Stillen G3, 20% tint...9.95 condition). The Cash price on a bare essentials C6 @ $49880 (which is MSRP + delivery). $289 processing, $10 Filing Fee, differences on owe/trade in = $49255.00. Given my fuzzy math, I should tell them "give it to me and take my Z, for $45K" - and it be about right given Edmunds pricing... Thoughts? Last edited by kannibul; 05-28-2010 at 12:47 AM. |

It's your call. I don't think I'd trade my Z in for a base camaro SS but for a C6 (Z51), yes I would. I live two blocks from WORLD'S Largest Corvette dealer. At any given time, there are at least 50-100 corvettes on the lot. I drive by them 8 times a day. I must say, Z06s are very tempting.
I drove F-body Camaros for a long time. It's all fun when new, then things start rattling, parts start going bad etc. Heck, I was afraid to push my Camaro because every time I did, I broke something . Something went wrong or a rattle started etc. This is just my . Go for a 'vette

Not if I intend to drive it anywhere after having an afternoon of fun with it.
I don't like automatics anyway. I got this because I thought I could adapt, and end up liking it, and not get myself in trouble... I found out I can still get myself in trouble, and that it's more of an annoyance than massaging a clutch in traffic. |
