Perspective... People think I'm rich simply because I drive a Z. I don't see anything baller about it. Yea, it's "baller" if you buy a brand new car whereas others can only afford it at "used" prices.

Do not know how accurate this is but it seems legit: Average new vehicle cost: $28,715, down 3%

So, if the average new car price was ~28K, than the Z is above average but I would not consider on the luxury side.

Affordability is another story since many can only afford a used car or no car at all.

I would peg the Z as "middle". But I think for most of the general population, the Z seems "middle-upper". In other words, it looks like it should cost more than it really does.

For the performance and style the Z offers, I'd say it's very affordable. But affordable is a relative term.

Given that even honda accord loaded can creep up past $30k, I say Z is decently priced. But fully loaded Z runs past $40k which would put it in near luxury level car (G37, bare bone A5, etc.).

I guess it's only matter of time that used 370z will be in the <$20's and will become more "affordable".

I've noticed with my 350Z that many people over the years think it's a much more expensive car than it actually is. The 370Z is a better value than the 350Z was, IMNSHO.

For a true sports car with the features and options, I'd say it should be considered an affordable car. That is, with some saving and / or credit crunching, you can have something that is maybe roughly equivalent (or better?) than a Porsche.

I like this question because it makes you think but it is relative.

I think it depends on what how you view things more I guess. If somebody says BMW automatically you think upper-class If you say Nissan you think maybe Middle-Upper. Just from the name but then you look at the car then it becomes probably Upper once they see the car, the interior and so on.

The way I see it, if the car you're driving is equal to or less than the amount of money you make each year, it's an affordable car. That being said, the average person makes 35K a year, so that would make this car attainable.

But this is just my opinion, although, I see it as true. If a guy making 300K a year wanted to buy a Lamborghini, he could. I won't say what I make a year, but I can tell you that I can certainly afford this car. I'd say that most people that make at least $20/hr@40hrs/wk can afford this car.

^ as long as you didn't go crazy with credit cards and whatnot. Also depending on the price of your rent/mortgage. I spend a lot on my mortgage, but that's the wife's choice. If it were just me, I'd live in a studio apartment and drive a zr1 ;]
