So a NEX 5 is a DSLR from Sony, is that correct? (too lazy to google). If so, very cool. Not too familiar with the Sony DSLR's...

Nice xdeslitx! I'm liking it so far, the pics are turning out quite well. Very impressed with the video!
FromG2Z - Actually its more of a point and shoot with a full sized sensor and SLR lens. Its mirror less and does not have a viewfinder.. Very compact for what it is.. More of a fun gadget than a professional camera. However with some tweaking it can take shots on par with entry/mid level DSLRs

EDIT: a lot of the quality seen from high end dslrs from my understanding is because of the high end lens...we can just use one of those lenses in the nex5 and not sure if you knew but you can get the viewfinder as an optional accessory...it attaches to where the flash attaches to Last edited by xdeslitx; 07-27-2011 at 05:30 PM. |

Changed the Oil to Mobil 1 Extended Performance, installed K&N drop in filters.

i suppose if you can save in RAW file + use SLR lens you might be able to get to DSLR quality via decoding using PS and saving your file. this way you can manipulate the data later.
from the many folks that i know that have DSLR's they only use auto-mode anyway so i think only using 75-80% of the total performance of the camera. (based on my very little knowledge i have about cameras. ) i know for certain after playing with mine a little bit that I can squeeze quite a bit more out the camera in the manual or partial manual modes vs auto-mode. i just need more experience to get that in control... |

Had a cancellation in my schedule, so I hopped in the car and took a spirited kenchan over the mountain and through the woods.
I needed that! Loving the Swift springs, especially now that I have everything bolted down the way it should be. I have a Tumi laptop bag and I love it. It's served me well for the last 10 years or so. Thinking about a Nikon P7000 compact SLR I can't be bothered to carry my Canon 10D around all the time.

Jeez Ken I thought I bought a lot of toys, its pretty hard to keep up with you.
Taking the Z to the tuning shop Tues for alignment now that I have put some miles on the Swifts. Made appointment last week and decided today to say screw it and get it UpRev tuned while im there. Called to see if they could fit it in during the alignment but got denied Dyno booked The cash I got from my sport Rays sale is buring a hole in my pocket!

Most people I have talked to use Aperature or Shutter priority mode to shoot most of the time. Using full manual mode is good for when you need precise control over all settings and the more you use it, the more quickly you will be able to adjust shutter and aperature on the fly in manual. RAW files enable you to edit the photos without any loss in quality. Every time you edit JPEGs, you diminish the quality of the picture slightly.
