i am sure nissan will do a recall on this down the road, but i dont want the dealer touching my car. and dont want my car flatbedded if it really did fail on me as i can already see more damage done to the car than the cost of the lock itself (about $500+). |

courtesyparts for me.
there's another site mwagner listed below in the interior/exterior section. from my guess all Z's built before Sep2009 are affected. mine is Jun09 build so using the previous version lock JF00B. JF00C onward appears to be working well. my spare is a JF00D. <= looks like j-food Quote:

root cause is unknown, other then the lock appears to seize. but if this happens to someone, first try unplugging your battery. leave it off for a few min. low battery charge might be the first contributer to the problem. even try charging your battery for a few min if available. if that doesnt work, do the edmunds trick of unlocking steering column and just bang the hell out of it moving it up and own. it could release the lock from its seized state. they had this problem on their tester GTR and this worked for them. if that doesnt work you're out of luck. you need to replace the lock. and that lock is wat's coming to me. (btw, my car has not had this problem, just me being proactive). |

im going to be using different screws on mine though as i dont want to use the security bolts (need 2 sold separately) where the hex breaks off after it's torqued. be too much of a hassle to redo in the field if the new one fails. Im going to keep a little kit in my Z with the 'old' lock as backup and some tools to use to do the work. np! |

Had horrible traction on wet roads with snow tires this morning. One scary moment taking a turn and the car going straight still for 10-15 feet....
