Interesting... Looks like we might not have to give up on the #0 design after all, at least for the front. We might be able cover the two nubs with the ring. What about covering the square with a small, low, color matched piece thats connected to the diagonal section of the z

2!!

Something similar to this

notice the red part sits completely below the Z, and rests inside the rectangular void on the bumper. Might look shitty up close but from a few feet back I bet it'd look good as long as its a tight fit and painted well.

By #0 do you mean this one?
http://www.the370z.com/members/scruf...0z-emblems.jpg

If I have something that connects to the diagonal section of the letter Z what shape should I make? Because I don't think a small rectangle going side ways will look good....cuz we're now back to the hamburger style or have people mix up with it looking like the old school Z logo....

Ahh, nevermind...i see the pics now
hmm...i dunno....i personally wouldn't go with that design but I'll let others vote.

I noticed you took a pic with the camera, wouldn't a print screen be faster?

how do I do that?

scruffydog 06-03-2010 06:47 PM

So, I'm stuck on trying to figure out the alignment tabs that protrudes out of the bumper, I need dimensions.....does that mean I need to take mine off?

I really don't want to do that....anyone already have their emblems off already and don't mind doing that for us? I can always design the emblem in a way where I can just over estimate the holes location or even counter sink bore a step circular shape on the rear side of the emblem....but I really prefer to be able to re-use those existing tabs for alignment as they're already there.

Just press "Print Screen" button on your keyboard and the Ctrl+V to paste it in Window's Paint program. And you can then save it as .JPG after moving and cropping. Good luck! :)

Yeah your probably right, forget it.

I'd be interested to know just how much of the square the Z would leave visible in the #0 design, if its only a small bit it might be easy/cheap to have a body shop take care of it. Even if they do a half assed job it will be barley visible.

Could we bump up the size of the Z?

I wouldn't worry about it too much, we can just do it on the fly at my shop when were ready to get down on this. we'll make a prototype of the badges, and if they are acceptable only then will we need to remove any badges to dial in the exact fit. Then we'll make our copies and send them out for paint/plating/powder coat. Might have to roll badge-less for a week while they're out but it'll be worth it.

cool....thanks....did you want me to bump up the size of the "Z" logo for design #2? How much bigger? the current dimensions are 40mm x 80mm i believe.

I guess we could always try it out....i have a black Z...it's probably the best one to use to hide the square...any other color will be really obvious and harder to match paint to since the paint will be on metal instead of plastics (like the bumper). I've noticed a couple of my friends who have Z's from factory and their body paint don't really match from body to bumper because of the material it's painted on. Especially Pearl White....it's really noticeable....I think people might mind that....

I'd like you to bump up the Z on #0. I am putting this badge on the front of my car come hell or high water! I want to try and cover as much of the square hole as possible and I will have a body shop do a fill if necessary. Basically I want the diagonal part of the Z to be as wide as possible, but to maintain the same proportions it has now. and not look overly large, or break through the outer diameter of the badge. Maybe scale up by a factor of 1.2 and see how it looks, I trust your judgment.

AgStacker 06-03-2010 10:16 PM

Im thinking about doing 0 on the front and 2 on the back.

Which badges are you interested in Kevin?

scruffydog 06-03-2010 10:40 PM

Haha, I'm not sure....I've been so caught up drawing them I didn't really think much about it....probably do #2 for both front and Rear....by the way I still need to get you the CAD files for the Rear as the sizes are different. Let me send you the files once I verify the rear badge dimensions. As for increasing the size of Z logo, here are the changes....what do you think looks best?
