Zs for Tall Folks?? - What do you do...
Anybody out there 6'2", about 35 inch inseam, that found a way to drive a manual?
I test drove a manual, base 370 w/sport. Knee kept hitting the back of the steering wheel. So I lowered the seat bottom to give my knee room. I could shift fine, but my thighs felt unsupported. Sat in the car another hour after we got back. Back started to hurt an hour later an I spent the next day in bed on flexeril. I don't have the same problem with the Touring seat and automatic...I love it. But the manual is more fun to drive. Do I have to rule out a manual, or is it just the base seats? Was the base model seat different than the NISMO, i.e. usable and comfortable? Also, I don't have an A$$ to speak of...Comfort? What solutions have tall people used? Did you tilt the steering wheel up to its highest position? I wouldnt think you would have issues with your height except you may not be able to wear a helmet if you intend on doing track days.

Thanks. Lots of info in those threads. But most of the tall guys that say they fit...even in a manual, don't say what seats they have and some don't specify manual or auto. I searched all the threads and found a couple of guys that are using steering wheel column spacers to move the wheel back...But they lose cruise control.

I think I'm fine in a touring automatic. But I'm trying to see if there is a trick to the NISMO or 6mt base, or touring. |

Yup. I can drive an auto touring too. My issue is with the manuals. Drove a base Thursday and spent Friday in bed..Still sore last night.
Went back to the dealership to see if I was imagining stuff. Nope. Plenty of room in the NISMO...But the base seat is torture for me and my left knee hits the back of the stearing wheel when I let the clutch out...Even with my leg angled. Salesman was a bit puzzled too. The seat pan on the NISMO feels fine. The seat back may be a bit stiff. I'm going to test sit for about 45 min next week. Wish they had G37 seats as an option... |

Ok...Test drove a manual touring. Kept the seat heater on. I could shift and drive with no problems and my back is okay. Between the drive and test-sit BSing with the saleman, I spent about 1.5 hours in the seat.
For the record I am 6'1, 225 lbs, no butt. 25 lbs worth of gut and my head is big too. Have a 35 inch inseam. |

Need an extended drive in a coupe/touring. If that doesn't work...I'm SOL. I don't like the look of the G37...comfortable, but no beauty comparison to a Z. |
