Default Zs for Tall Folks?? - What do you do...

Anybody out there 6'2", about 35 inch inseam, that found a way to drive a manual?

I test drove a manual, base 370 w/sport. Knee kept hitting the back of the steering wheel. So I lowered the seat bottom to give my knee room. I could shift fine, but my thighs felt unsupported. Sat in the car another hour after we got back. Back started to hurt an hour later an I spent the next day in bed on flexeril.

I don't have the same problem with the Touring seat and automatic...I love it. But the manual is more fun to drive.

Do I have to rule out a manual, or is it just the base seats?

Was the base model seat different than the NISMO, i.e. usable and comfortable?

Also, I don't have an A$$ to speak of...Comfort?

What solutions have tall people used?

Did you tilt the steering wheel up to its highest position? I wouldnt think you would have issues with your height except you may not be able to wear a helmet if you intend on doing track days.

Your in no danger of being to tall for the Z..The 370 has more room to sit then the 350 and people 6' 6 can drive a 350.

Thanks. Lots of info in those threads. But most of the tall guys that say they fit...even in a manual, don't say what seats they have and some don't specify manual or auto. I searched all the threads and found a couple of guys that are using steering wheel column spacers to move the wheel back...But they lose cruise control.

Yes. Wheel all the way up. Lumbar collapsed to allow more room for the curve of my spine. I can drive an auto..No problem. But my test drives and seat time, driving, were limited. I have, however, test-sat all the Z models at least ten times. Five times for 45 min or more. Salesmen think I'm full of crap.

I think I'm fine in a touring automatic. But I'm trying to see if there is a trick to the NISMO or 6mt base, or touring.

Yup. I can drive an auto touring too. My issue is with the manuals. Drove a base Thursday and spent Friday in bed..Still sore last night.

Went back to the dealership to see if I was imagining stuff. Nope. Plenty of room in the NISMO...But the base seat is torture for me and my left knee hits the back of the stearing wheel when I let the clutch out...Even with my leg angled. Salesman was a bit puzzled too.

The seat pan on the NISMO feels fine. The seat back may be a bit stiff. I'm going to test sit for about 45 min next week.

Wish they had G37 seats as an option...

It sounds like you have issue with the base seats, but the touring seats are ok for you, so just buy a 6speed with the touring package, lots of people complain about the base seats being uncomfortable.

Could well be. Have two experiments planned. Touring with manual, and the NISMO. Love the look of the NISMO in white.

Ok...Test drove a manual touring. Kept the seat heater on. I could shift and drive with no problems and my back is okay. Between the drive and test-sit BSing with the saleman, I spent about 1.5 hours in the seat.

For the record I am 6'1, 225 lbs, no butt. 25 lbs worth of gut and my head is big too. Have a 35 inch inseam.

Update on tests: My love for Zs started with a roadster...So a dealership let me have one overnight. Fully loaded. Drove 120 miles. Killed my back. Seat back doesn't go back far enough for me. Plenty of support but no cushion Almost cried...Loved the ride, feel, handling, looks. Most fun I've ever had driving a car.

Need an extended drive in a coupe/touring. If that doesn't work...I'm SOL. I don't like the look of the G37...comfortable, but no beauty comparison to a Z.
