heck if i read all the bad things about the 370 on here i might never have bought one to start with......just saying......
thats what makes it so hard to decide and a quick ride wont show all the bad things that might happen later on. So you have weed weed weed.

I keep coming back to the idea of the Z06 myself. I am not of the "appropriate" age, demographic, or income, but then, I'm a different sort I guess.

If you buy, either go base, or go Z06. Just my .02, unless you want a 'vert.

I am looking long and hard at the 2011 Z06. I think a 1LZ in mid 2011 would be a solid move for me if nothing else comes out to compete with it. The trans issues should be fixed, and 5/100 is a VERY nice powertrain warranty on a 450rwhp car.

No, I base it off of my roommate's 'vette, a friend's 'vette, and the 'vette I rode in a while back.

Before it is said and done, I will drive a Z06 and consider. That 450whp is very persuasive. The 370Z is probably a bit slower than my last car on the big end, and that grates a bit on me. Why go into debt over a car slower than a car I had paid for (when considering performance cars)? I know speed isn't everything, and am considering that, as well...

Im looking at a 2010 GS LT3, cant really afford the Z06, I still have 2 kids in my pocket. The 2010 is almost 10K off MSRP.

Yeah, they are giving 2010's away right now. I just can't justify a Grand Sport for $50K when I could get a 2009 Z06 for $59K or a 2010 for $62-4K.

For 9-14K you get:

HUD on every trim level
LS7 engine
NPP exhaust
Fixed Roof Coupe
100-150# weight reduction depending on trim levels

So basically: stiffer body, 80rwhp, better sounding exhaust, and a HUD. Sounds like a great way to spend 9K!

Then, I plan on holding off until mid 2011 or so and getting a 2011 when they are giving those away (well, you can already order a 1LZ for 65K, I am just not ready yet.)

My '06 C6 Z06 was quiet. The fixed roof did not creak at all. Considering the mediocre interior materials, I was surprised the car was so rattle-free. I had the car for a year and a half and put around 6500 miles on it...not exactly well used, but it was a good car while I had it.

The Z06's chassis feels reasonably solid, but it doesn't have that billet-solid feel of a Porsche. For example, when traversing inclines you can feel a bit of initial flex in the Corvette's chassis. In comparison, the 370 feels near Porsche-solid...quite impressive, IMO. That's how the Corvette should feel. I understand they want to keep the car's weight down, but a bit more chassis bracing would go a long way toward providing that high-quality solid feel.

My transmission shifted well, no problems with 2nd gear grinding, even when cold. However, 2008 Z06s got the newer trans and some of them have a 2nd gear grind until warmed-up.

This post was originally about bang for the buck and style. Both the 370Z and C6 are exceptional in this regard. I have both now and people do seem to comment on the curvy styling of the Z more on the street. Part of it might be it is a newer model and not as many are on the street yet? Personally I like the styling of the Z a little more, but not by much, both are great looking cars!

Styling wise the Z06 and Z are tie, both look great. Both have shapes that are among the best at any price. I don't think the interiors of the 2008+ C6 is bad, much better then the '07. 2008 was a excellent year for Vettes, better car and even more bang for the buck. Better steering and a little more power and other refinements. Current ones are probably even better. My '07 C6 was super reliable with the exception of the roof latch noise which was fixed. The '08 C6 is super reliable also, not a single issue. The modern Corvette is a seriously good car that is reliable and performs exceptionally right out of the box. The MPG for the C6 is great, a little better then the Z.

It's funny, I kind of notice a pattern on car forums. Z owners want to match up with C6's and C6 drivers want to match up with Porsche owners.

All are really great and exceptional cars! No car is perfect. Everyone should buy what they like, can afford, and enjoy! Most importantly go and actually drive the cars you are interested in. Many dealers will even offer extended test drives. I was on the fence between a '07 C6 and a '07 Cayman S once. I explained this to both dealers and both the Porsche dealer and Chevy dealer let me take the cars out for a couple of hours. Neither car for the test drives were new. The C6 was the owner's personal car and the Cayman S was a used '07. I got a good feel for what the cars were like before making a decision and ordering.

Someone mentioned getting bored with power? It would take a seriously good driver to extract 90% of the Z06s performance. I don't know about getting used to or bored with the performance so fast? Many people would leave a stain on the seat at 8/10ths in the Z06.

Probably the best bang for the buck is a good performance driving school.
