Comparison the z to a vette
Just a general comment about the Z. Had my 09 base with the sports package
detailed today love the 19's! Anyway they were also doing a 08 vette along side my car and everyone was commenting about the Z and how they liked the new body style and all the improvements. Long story short for style and bang for your buck 15 to 20 grand less the Z wins hands down. Sorry didn't to brag! |

Having owned a Corvette, and now the Z, the Z is tighter and has better fit-and-finish. It also has nicer steering...better weighted with more feel. Seats are better, too. Suspension feels more sophisticated.
The Corvette's V8, however, is the better motor, IMO...smooth, powerful, sonorous and even offers decent mileage (nearly 30 mpg highway). Also, I preferred the Corvette's clutch...the Z's is just too light and lacks feel. They're both nice cars. I think the C7, whenever it debuts, will be a heck of a car. The Corvette only needs a few tweaks to be truly great. |

You can get a vette for 42K right now as they are offering some big incentives so that probably puts it in the best bang for the buck right now. If that deal was up when I was looking at my Z it may have changed things. Both are great cars and I always wanted a Z and a vette, just cant afford to get both at the same time.

That corvette bodystyle is old and tired. Probably seems older than it is because you see so many of them. I swear, somewhere in Orlando they were giving away yellow corvettes because there are 12,987,654,987+ of them in this city.

i like the vette's stying. i like the 370Z's styling. they are different cars so cant really compare the two, but both share a common improvement in appearance vs its previous gen cars... imo

Putting the Vette performance aside, would someone please redesign that old style wedge? It's basically been the same shape and styled car since the 80's. Tradition is one thing, but something totally new could work. It's not "ugly" in my opinion, but I just look at it and think old and "look at me, I own a Vette" calling card. Plus as said earlier, this car is every f'nwhere. Never been a fan of a car you park and see 3 or more in eyes view.
I think the 370Z was my first sports car I was all around impressed with.(Sides a MKIV Supra 2JZ with a fat T51R Three distinct reasons that all must sum up to an all around complete package. Performance vs exterior styling vs interior styling. Long have I loved the exterior of a car just to find POOR interior design. This was always a deal breaker for me. The Gallardo, the Viper GTS, the Vette. Poor interior design. Yes, some more function than for style, but for that price.... I'm a prior 350 owner and that was the only thing that killed that car for me. The interior was better than most, but once you saw those spy shots of the 370Z interior back in 08..... the glitter in my eyes died. I had to have one. and now I do |

You can find Vettes all day long at invoice or below and $42K is certainly doable if you go light on option packages.. Check the corvette forum for participating dealers. bought my '08 for invoice at MacMulkins in New Hampshire (great dealer). they are very different cars. I don't miss the Vette! |
