Good read. The price difference between the Z and the Mustang make the Mustang seem like a pretty good value.

I bet the GT owners, particularly the 2010 GT owners are f'in pissed that the new V6 owns them :icon17:

you realize it was posted yeterday? :V

This isn't a mag article, it's from autoblog which typically has better reviewers than Motortrend/C&D/R&T/etc. :p

Anyway that autoblog came from that article.

Where is the link??

Haha... since when was the 2011 V6 faster than the previous GTs? They weigh the same and the 2010 GT has a bit more hp and more torque over a flatter curve. It should be faster.

But yeah, they can't be happy considering how the GT vs. V6 environment was. GT owners used to rag on the V6 models like mad because they were always at least 2 seconds faster from the factory. Now they've got a V6 that can dip into the 13s stock... pretty wild considering my 2002 V6 automatic could only do 16s stock!!!:tup:

thought the new mustang was a lot lighter, especially the v6 models moving from iron block to alum.

m4a1mustang 05-18-2010 11:00 PM

May be a little bit lighter than the 2010 GT because of the engine, but that's not enough to compensate for the GT's extra power and torque. Not to mention the lowest gear you can get on the V6 is a 3.31 with the performance package. Standard is a 2.73.

Ford was careful to make sure the V6 wasn't too quick. I have to say, though, that V6 should respond pretty damn well to bolt-ons!

...but seriously...

tvfreakazoid 05-19-2010 02:47 AM

Well the 2011 ford v6 is a huge upgrade in hp. Especially the V8 GT.
Come on 370 how about a power boost. Let's follow ford mustang direction.

You are thinking of the GT500 which dropped around 200 pounds of weight.
I think the 4.6 & now 5.0 have been mostly alum blocks for awhile, it was the 5.4L in the GT500 which still was a heavy block.

HKYStormFront 05-19-2010 08:53 AM

that might be it dreamer

m4a1mustang 05-19-2010 08:54 AM

The new GT500 is impressive. It dropped 9 seconds off it's lap time at VIR with the new improvements!

I saw that, they estimated 3 seconds at the start and it came back with a 9 second drop. :eek2:

"To give a little context to the time… when referencing the best lap times ever recorded on FastestLaps.com, the 2011 Shelby GT500 is in some fairly elite company, and would place directly between the 10th ranked Chevrolet Corvette Z06 with 2:58.2 and the Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport C6 at 2:58.8 seconds."

Pretty nice.
