How do people get above 22 is beyond me...

This thread has me frustrated. I would have expected better mileage in a 332bhp V6 than with my 505hp V8. If I do decide to trade, I'm going to have to either prove you all wrong about how you a fail at hypermiling, or I am going to be very sad about that aspect of my purchase.

When I click my DIC in the Z06, it shows averages of 19-22mpg, with me seeing 26+mpg on the freeway for long drives, calculated manually.

I should think the 370Z could easily break 30mpg if you are gentle with her and not going up a slight gradient.

22-24 mpg 6MT when I am drafting.....19-21 mpg with my lead foot, which is most of the time.

Why are you even considering a 370z when you already have a Z06?

Several reasons.

-I am moving soon, and less note is more.
-I love the 370Z's interior.
-The 370Z handles very well, and 505hp and very tall gears lead to very illegal activity.
-Where I am moving, corners will be much more prevalent than straights. Both cars will be on nearly equal terms in such an environment, but the cost is NOT equal, nor are the interiors.
-I like change. I plan on driving a 370Z until the C7 corvette comes out, has been refined for 2-3 years, and then trading back into a 'vette.
-I learned that no matter how much power you have, you get used to it and it all feels the same.
-My experience at spring mountain taught me that I don't have the skill for it to matter. Myself and other students were falling behind the Camaro SS driving instructors in our ZR1's. Epic skill-fail. So basically, a driver like me, is going to have the same fun in the twisties in a 370Z as in a 'vette, whether you want to man up and admit it or not, I think at LEAST 85-90% of the owners of these kinds of vehicles fall in that class, as well (based on all the students and how they fared similarly).
-Did I mention that I love the 370Z's interior?

OMG this is crazy...how do you guys get these numbers? I can't even get 19MPG. All I need to do is step on the gas and accelerate and it'll drop down below 18.5MPG and stays below for the rest of the trip. =/ This sucks

I get 20's on the highway 17-19 on local streets. Although I'm still breaking in so maybe I'll see some improvements later on, probably not because I'll really open up the car then lol.

It's an auto. Man your ruining the Z experience for me lol getting tired after a few thousand miles haha. I don't think I'll get sick of those downshifts, music to my ears.

Mine's a TT daily driver. It doesn't get in boost as often in city street driving, and is more likely to get in boost when getting on the onramp.

The worse is a little over 19 MPG, average around 21-22, and highest (highway) is 24 MPG. I'm pretty sure the car has the capability to get in the 15 MPG range on a "non-daily" driving basis.

Normal driving i got 19 on average w a heavy foot.

I tried seeing what was possible in around town driving. no long trips or long hwy runs. i averaged 25 driving like a grandma.

took a drive up to conn once, about 4 hours away, and stopped twice (looking at trucks for my dad) and got 27 and that was using 2/3 of a tank.

Unfortunately, it doesn't work out that way. The Corvette is a freak of nature with its excellent highway mileage. Of course with the 6spd gearing, it's only turning a couple thousand rpm on the highway. The Z turns a thousand rpm higher with its 6spd manual gearing. And of course the 'Vette has gobs of torque at any speed, but the Z needs some revs before it really pulls.

I've admired your threads/comments on the comparison, but gas mileage is one where the 'Vette is a clear winner. I've had my 370z for 2 years, and about 25,000 miles (don't drive it much in winter). I have taken quite a few long trips in mine, and best trip mileage I've seen is about 27mpg. My usual mileage per tank runs about 22mpg, unless I'm going for a track day when I get about 6-7mpg (autocrossing).
