I gotta tell you, first 2 fill ups after the FI exhaust got me 24, and that after an exhaust mod!?! go figure, even with the hard driving to enjoy the exhaust i got about 2mpg better than my previous average of 20-22. Using the gears properly helps save fuel too.

I believe my computer monitor reads 19.8ish MPG. Doing the math for the past few tanks, I have gotten on average 21.5 mpg, highest being 22. When I first bought the car I was getting around 17 or 18mpg, as I've owned it it's only increased, which is to be expected as everything is broken in.

I normally wouldn't complain but gas is getting more and more expensive. My excuse to myself to drive this car over my 1994 Honda Accord EX is because I like to think it's a much newer, more efficient so I'd save more money in gas - but that's not even true anymore because I only need to put the lowest grade fuel in my Honda Accord and with this car I have to put Premium. Even if the 370z get more miles per gallon the cost per gallon ends up cancelling out the extra miles I can get on top of my Honda Accord (which I like to make believe is a much less fuel efficient car) Sadly, Honda's are known to be super great cars for not breaking down and have super good fuel economy. ![]() Last edited by scruffydog; 05-10-2010 at 05:22 PM. |

I've put 600 miles on mine and my computer is reading 16.9 mpg. The vast majority of those 600 miles have been to work in rush hour, though the traffic isn't too heavy on my commute. I could probably shift earlier and get a couple more mpg.

I have a 40 mile one way commute 95% freeway so I am usually 25-27 range.
My 370z really likes when its hotter out. The other day I had to go into work early for a meeting at 6 PM (I work nights) and it was like 86-87F out. Even with the A/C running and running into more traffic than usual I hit 29 MPG just before I started hitting some major traffic right when I got into LA (35 miles into my commute) I took this picture after 20-30 sec in the traffic and it went down a bit: Interesting that the optimal temperature (for mpg) in this car appears to be around 90F. Its pretty rare on my normal commute that I get that much higher than 28-28.5 and by the time I get to work/park it goes down to 25.x-27.x depending on the day. |

I've never even bothered to figure it out on track days, I'm actually kind of amazed it's that high, I would've guessed closer to 1.5 - 2.

"City" is very arbitrary.
For example, driving around a suburb is considered 'city' but one might do 30-40mph for a good stretch between traffic lights. However, 'city' for me in downtown Chicago is stop and go driving with stop signs/lights every 100 feet. The gas mileage numbers you'll get in these two situations will vary greatly, yet they are both 'city' driving. Highway is a bit more standardized being that you have to be on a highway and expectedly doing about 65-75mph.
