VDC does not affect breaking or fast lane changes. ABS breaks, good handling is what saved me.

Had I tried to accelerate rapidly without VDC, then I may have gone into a spin.

VDC saves me on a daily basis as I drive a little spirited, and so I never turn it off. But it is good to know what does what in our cars and not to associate everything to the VDC.

you're driving like an inexperienced 16yr old with a death wish if this is the case.

Good (smooth) drivers will rarely, if ever, trigger VDC...

Vdc played such a small role in that. The moral to the story is. Have good driving etiquette...Pay attention to the road... Think fast. Don't panic... And finally with absolute split second quickness, observe and decifer each drivers intent around you. Vdc will never compensate for those actions.

That's the problem today. People think that features like vdc tcs esc and all that other stuff compensates for bad driving. Speeders are way overrated in the scheme of things as well. The real issue... cell phones, text messaging, f*^kin around with nav and other stupid gadgets. Being more into your conversation than being an attentive driver.

My advice: people need to wake the hell up n stop playing with gadgets and other BS while driving.

I agree with OP. While you are supposed to keep your undivided attention of what is going on ahead, I also make sure I keep tally of my rear view mirror. If someone is on my @ss I'll move over.

That's one thing I find myself being consciously more aware of, the people behind me. Sure, I can stop on a dime, and chances are my car can come to a quicker stop than the car in front of me, but that is also probably true of the person behind me.

Just recently I found myself in a spot where I had to come to almost a complete stop while going about 75 on the highway, luckily I was able to quickly look behind me, and saw that there was a stupid ******* SUV right on my ***. Instead of just slamming my breaks to avoid crashing into the cars in front of me, I pulled onto the emergency lane/median and came to a slower stop, winding up next to the guy that was in front of me. If I didn't do this, the SUV behind me might of rear ended me. In the end, he had the same idea I did, so I probably would have been safe, but still. Now on I try not to get into that situation in the first place.

Too many D***heads drive SUV's. I see no need for them and I do not understand why they are not banned. The morons who buy these things believe they will be safe because they are in something big, then another moron goes and buys something bigger in case he gets hit by another moron in a Suv, so where does it stop.....if tanks were offered as street vehicle, these morons would buy them.

To the OP, I see this thread potentially turning into another VDC pissing contest. So, before it does, I just want to pop in to say I'm glad you're okay, and I hope none of the other drivers got hurt too seriously. Props to you for paying attention to your surroundings and being able to react quickly.
