In simple math terms:

$4K costs him: $191 / 1 HP gained and $235 / 1 ft-lb. gained.
12K costs him: $ 70 / 1-HP gained and $ 80 / 1 ft-lb gained.

In addition by adding the blower or TT it would likely increase his asking price for the car if he were to sell it which could work in his favor if he is still upside-down in his loan he may have on the car at the time of selling it.

Adding just an exhaust isn't going to increase the value of the car in any way, shape or form nor contribute to providing any amount of offset advantage if he is upside-down in any loan he may have on the car at the time of the sell.

You can't argue with the hard numbers because it just plainly SCREAMS for itself that the exhaust makeover is a total rip-off unless he couples it with the blower or TT where then it can at least be dollar-justified by the big power to be gained.

Over here every mod lowers the price of the car. especially forced induction modding.

Exhaust + lth + cai + tuneup are the best ways to increase HP without resorting to modifying the engine itself.

I don't disagree with your Exhaust + lth + cai + tuneup...IF IT WERE A MUSTANG because the prices for the comparable kinds of parts for a Mustang are NOT through the roof as they are for the Z.

The Z being considered an import allows the manufacturers to really stick it to the consumer and charge outragious prices for any parts. These outragious prices just completely kill the ROI when doing this kind of mod to the Z since the power gains made are so dimimutive compared to the dollars spent to achieve that mere pittance of a gain. That's why this mod you suggest requires coupling it with a forced induction mod as well in order to achieve a sensible ROI.

Having been modding Mustangs most of my life I can tell you that most comparable mods made to a MUSTANG can be achieved at 1/2 the overall cost of those made to Z's. That's why the ROI when doing Mustang modification is so good!
