I don't know if any of you guys have this problem, but a lot of times I get random Z drivers pull up behind me, drive up next to me, give me some dirty look, then accelerate away. I don't know if they're just jealous or what. I mean, if the other person and I initiate eye contact, I'm usually the first to give them a thumbs up, but the majority of these guys seem to despise our new Z's or something. On the other hand, I get a lot of thumbs up from bimmers and other high-end cars; even modded Z's. I think it's just the Z owners that don't know **** about cars...along with jealousy. What do you guys think?

i dont look at 350z's so dont know.

you are not alone. i get this too. there are a few 350's in my complex. i can tell they are jealous. especially since i'm the only one there w/ a 370 so far. reving their engine trying to show off. whatever, they are the ones looking like idiots.

yeah 350 owners seem to hate..haha.

I've only had 2 positive interactions with another Z driver.. The rest are just unaware completely, (sometimes intentionally I think)

Ya I run into more pissy 350 owners than cool ones. But the cool ones really are cool. 300 guys for the most part are cool aswell.

i dont get why they would hate on a 370z owner. I'm pretty sure a lot of people here might have bought 350's but the timing wasn't right etc. its honestly like someone with a base 370 hating on someone who has the rays if they happen to cross paths. No matter how similar people are, they can always find differences to squabble over.

most of the 350's i've seen and interacted with are pretty nice. i usually get a nod or thumbs up from them.

saw a really hot chick in a 350 roadster yesterday, she totally ignored me :(

Ok I know what you mean and its really simple... when some young kid working a shift at burger king wants to drive a fast car - he gets a 4 year old 350z for 12k ... so when he has JUST gotten the cool 350z of his dreams - he sees you on the freeway waxing in your brand new 40K car which for sure he cant afford right now... hence the anger... its normal... I look at some ferrari owners the same way... except that im too busy drooling to be mad and gas away lol..

ever since i got my exhaust not one 350 owner has been cool they are all a$$ holes and try to race its lame and i have a base and when i see the rays i smile because they look amazing

If you really want to see how much they love the 370, go read their forums. LOL. They HATE 370's on that board.

I don't think I have had a 350Z driver be anything but indifferent to me on the roads. Sometimes you see them give that quick look, then they turn away again so you won't see them looking. heh.

I had a guy in a NA 300 flash his lights at me the other day in my 370.

I've never seen so much hate for a car in my life, never seen so much snobbish douchebaggery in my life, its unfortunate that they refuse to believe the Z34 is superior in every respect.

HAHA. well, to be clear, I don't expect them to believe that. I'm sure they like their cars. I liked my 350. I was surprised they hate the 370 so much. Its easy to get the impression its jealousy, whether it is or not who can say? For instance, they rip our headlights then stick little metal things on theirs to make the shape appear more aggressive.

I used to read that board when I had a 350, and still read the 370Z section from time to time after I bought my 370. I just read. I do think its funny. I don't argue with them about the cars.

Besides a 370Z isn't better in every way. the 350Z clearly has a better TPMS readout.

I'm noticing a lot of ricey drivers are being aggressive around me, not just riced up 350s.

This is my first Japanese car and I've not encountered this crap before. Didn't happen to me in my BMWs, Audis or VWs. It's really f**king weird. It's like some petty, poor *** car turf war or something. Suddenly, there are stupid little eye lasers going on. And these people always stupid little knucklehead hats pulled down as far as they can get away with. HA!

My guess is that this is what happens if you're driving something that is *just* out of reach for some people, rather than if you're driving something that is totally out of their reach. I guess it just burns that little bit more.

Get a f**king life, you petty, small-minded @$$wipes! I'm driving home, tired, from work to see my wife. I don't want to race you and your farty exausted, vinyl stickered, bass bin on wheels.

It's human nature to hate something you don't have. Hell, half the people on this board trashed the 370 NISMO when it came out. It's not just 350 owners....

I love how much hate my Nismo 370Z gets. I can't believe how wound up and how far out of their way people will go to get mad about a car that someone else out there on the Internet bought.

good points. Honestly its the same as a nismo yelling at a person who spent the money on getting a touring/nav/automatic (WHAT IS THIS A LUXURY CAR?!) its so funny, people have like almost the exact same car, and still find a reason to not like the other persons car.

Yes, but you forget that by having a base model stereo in the Nismo you can pull an additional 0.0002g. It handles like a completely different car! I know this because the Internet and Car & Driver told me so.

Interesting comments. Having owned an 05 C6, an 07 Z06 and an 09 Z06, I became quite used to the "Corvette wave" where any generation Corvette will wave at another generation. True, a few people didn't wave back but in my experience, the majority did. It's unfortunate that there appears to be some degree of animosity or jealousy on the part of 350Z owners based on this thread. I did wave at a 350Z and got a wave back.....so maybe not all is lost.

Thinking about it, I haven't got the best reactions from the 350z's I've seen.

Only once I got a wave back from a lady in a 350z, otherwise I get snubs...

I can see some 350Z owners being like this.

Owners of older gen Zs don't act like this.

You can pick up a pre-HR 350Z for under $15k now. I mean you could probably find a 2003-04 somewhere for $12k. This adds a different element to the pool of individuals who make up owners. BTW, I'm not saying people who buy cheaper cars have less class, I'm saying it provides a broader spectrum of owners.

That said, I don't know why the opposite is true for the 300ZX. I think the much older cars are driven by enthusiasts more so than those just looking for a cheap 300HP RWD coupe.

haha, maybe that's just because no one can tell the differences between the model years on corvettes. :p I kid i kid (kind of)

Not bashing any 350z owners, but I think the majority of 300zx owners have a more mature mindset. Plus, like you said, with the 350z becoming even more affordable to the overall population, the chances of there being people that don't know much about cars are even greater; therefore, the chances of "douchebaggery" are likely to be more present. Again, not bashing the true Z enthusiasts.

I've owned 2 280ZXs now and consider myself a fan of the Z heritage. I never really felt the Z33 really embodied that well. However, I always wave at a fellow Z driver, whether I'm in the 280ZX or the 370Z. It's just a "fellowship" that I feel privileged to have been/ be a part of. It upsets me when I see people in 350Zs that just don't either get "it" or are, for lack of a better word, pissy about the jealousy or whatever it may be.

I haven't noticed the "hate" out there from other 350Z owners and I do wave at other Zs when I see them on the road. I can say that among our group of Mid-Atlantic 370Z owners we also have two 350Z NISMO owners and a 300ZX(TT) owner who also has the new Black Cherry 370Z roadster. Last year we had a group meet and three GTR owners came and joined us for beers and dinner as well! They are all great folks because they are all enthusiasts and enjoy getting together with others regardless if they are 370Z, 350Z or any Z owner. Ages for our group range from early 20s to mid 40-50s. Thats what makes it fun!

Here there's not much waving. But recently pulled up alongside a highly and tastefully modded 350. He actually lowered his blackout tints to make sure I saw his wave. There's some who respect, some who don't, and most that probably don't care.
