The reason why you could probably keep up had to do with perhaps the max speed limiter on the carrera?

The guy looked at me and smirked and floored it..........being a new Z owner and wanting to "represent" I followed in pursuit. I typically am not the kind of driver to do this, but after hitting high speeds, I was VERY surprised to see that I kept up with this Porsche very easily. In really tight turns he had a little more traction i feel like, his back tires were HUGE....so he might have had me there..........SOOOOO my question is, has anyone else experienced going against a Porsche, particularly the Carrera 4 or any other models??? I happen to think the Z did very well, and I know this was highway driving as opposed to the track, but im interested to see if anyone else has stories about Z's vs Porsches.................
I used to crush Porsche Carrera's all the time but not with my Z.....I did it with my 2003 Mustang Cobra Terminator. It gave me the greatest pleasure to hand the smug-azz owners of those cars their azz on a platter. And to rub it in I used to give them a head start and then wave bye-bye while going by them. I hated those smug sons-of-bitches worse than I did Vette owners.

I don't beleive a naturally aspirated 370Z or 350Z would ever beat a Porsche straight-line or in slaloms....at least not without better tires and some help from forced induction.

I will concede however that a Z owner could hang near one enough that it wouldn't ever be an absolute total cakewalk for the Porsche.

Just trying to make the OP realize the track is "a little safer", than the street! Plus there is less chance of involving innocent people!

Plus I-90 is one giant speed trap, the State Police will haul your *** in if they catch you at that speed racing another car.

So I will quote myself again.

There is also a Porsche event at the same location the day before incase you really want to compare (but the organizer is a bit of a d*ck). But we usually have a few Porsche's show up at our events as well, Cayman S, 911, GT3 RS are the regulars.
