Sure you can make the argument that we dont want those types of drivers in our community anywho, but maybe showing the guy how awesome track racing/autoX can be would be a more effective way to change the habit.

Wow, didn't expect these responses. So none of you have ever given into temptation and did a little over the speed limit? Its fine if you dont agree with my post, what i find shocking is that we are all owners of true sports cars, and all of a sudden i post a story about speed and everyone criticizes me about it......i guarantee everyone who responded to my post has a similar story...thanks for the support

Everybody speeds, but most of us are responsible enough to keep the racing on the track. Or at least abide by forum rules and not post about it.

I agree, I hoped by doing a quick first reaction to avoid this, but I was to late

Anyways to the OP, I'll hit you up this summer and we can take a trip to the drag strip or some autox events, maybe we'll find a Porsche there to run against...

Hell yeah. If I have open, high-quality road I'll take my chance and hit some numbers, but never against another car or around traffic. Seen too many fatal accidents for that.

A LITTLE over the speed limit, yes. I personally absolute hate and am against street racing. Can't wait for another 1500km on my Z so I could take it to the track. Street racing is illegal, irresponsible, dangerous to the public and just plain stupid.

The reason why you could probably keep up had to do with perhaps the max speed limiter on the carrera?

I used to crush Porsche Carrera's all the time but not with my Z.....I did it with my 2003 Mustang Cobra Terminator. It gave me the greatest pleasure to hand the smug-azz owners of those cars their azz on a platter. And to rub it in I used to give them a head start and then wave bye-bye while going by them. I hated those smug sons-of-bitches worse than I did Vette owners.

I don't beleive a naturally aspirated 370Z or 350Z would ever beat a Porsche straight-line or in slaloms....at least not without better tires and some help from forced induction.

I will concede however that a Z owner could hang near one enough that it wouldn't ever be an absolute total cakewalk for the Porsche.

For all you Boston boys that want to test your car handing (legally) I suggest you sign up for this event. There is another on May 15th if that day doesn't work out.
