My opinion is that the 370 roadster has come a long way from where the 350 roadster left off, its a pretty big improvement. On the other hand, I wish that Nissan had stuck with the T-top style even though its a bit outdated. T-tops are bad *** and maybe they wouldnt have to fiddle with the sexy curves on the coupe as much.

If most websites (and even humans) compare our beloved 370Z's to vehicles that cost twice as much, shouldn't we consider it a compliment? I mean, how many times to you hear someone talking up a Stock Chevy Cobalt or a Ford Festiva and comparing it to a 370Z? /shrug

ugh last place...lol

True that. We should be very happy to be compared to higher priced cars and still get thumbs up. Could they really pick a car that is 30k less than the competitor or just think what nissan could really do with 30k more put into building the z roadster? I think its all about nissan capturing a segment of the market where the others cant touch. Just think about how impressive the z roadster is now.

Not quite $30k, more like 10-20k:
2010 Audi TTS 2.0 TFSI quattro 2009 BMW Z4 sDrive35i 2010 Nissan 370Z touring 2009 Porsche Boxster S Base price $49,725 $52,475 $41,240 $57,495 Price as tested $56,320 $63,095 $46,205 $66,505 |
well, i'm not entirely shocked with the results, i mean, the nissan was the one and only non luxury vehicle in the group, so its impressive that they chose it to be apart of the comparison. aside from that, i am amused that even though they thought the Z drove better than the Z4, the styling is what set them back. for me, function over style. i certainly think looks play a large part in purchasing a vehicle, but if it drives like crap, i'm not buying it.
like everyone has said in this thread, the whole comparison was based on opinion. you'll get groups that will love/hate each one of those cars and will spout out 100 reasons each one should be #1. for me, do i think the Z falls in dead last? probably not, i think it should be slotted above the Z4, but its merely my opinion :) |

Edmunds lists the base MSRP price on the Boxster S as 58K. It goes up from there once you start adding enough to make it equipped similarly to a loaded roadster. I believe the 66k "priced as tested" for the Boxster S in the comparison was for a poorly equipped Boxster S. Almost everything is "ala carte" with the Porsche -- They charge separate options charges for special gear shift nobs, aluminum trim in the interior, bluetooth connection, etc. You should see the list. You can option out quite nicely, but you'll pay for it. It doesn't take long for the options to get the S well about 70K. A fully optioned out Boxster S can be higher than a base 911 price. |
Roadster, Coupe - Coupe, Roadster. Bottom line, they're both 370Z'S!
I love the Coupe, and I love the Roadster. I wish I had one of each, to be honest. All I can say is that I am so happy with my Roadster that I could care less what someone says about it. I know what I have, and I know how absolutely thrilled I am with it. I have seen three Coupes and one Roadster on the road over the last couple of weeks, and I think it's great to see a nice Coupe cruse by, then a Roadster shoot past. I mean we Z owners have the market cornered!!! We have the best of both worlds out there. NO other car can say that! I don't care how much they sell for. I love the Coupe and I love the Roadster, and I am enjoying being a part of this GREAT family of 370Z's. So, stop paying attention to those idiots who somehow find something bad to say about the 370Z. We have one and they don't = they LOSE!!! . . |
Well said. In general I believe as you do, but I am human and sometimes get upset when confirmation of my choice seems to be lacking, but I'll get over it -- especially since the sun will be out tomorrow, it will be in the mid 80s, and I'll have the wind running over the few hairs on my head.

Motor trend receives kickbacks that pay for the crucial role of forming and reflecting their opinions.
